HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the following ladies who will celebrate birthdays this week:
• Kitty Van Ry, 93 on Tuesday, August 31
• Joyce Kok, 87 on Wednesday, September 1
• Anne Maas, 81 on Saturday, September 4
PLEASE WELCOME Pastor Ken and Anita Boonstra and their daughter, Erin! The Boonstras moved into the parsonage on Thursday and will be serving as our interim pastor beginning next week.
FROM THE COUNCIL: We love the fellowship of the family of believers at Bethel and it is vitally important for the body of believers to gather and worship together in honor of our Savior. In light of the recent increase in Covid 19 activity in our community, please practice appropriate precautions while in the church building – and yes, this probably includes masks and keeping spread out in the sanctuary and narthex. Weather permitting, windows will be kept open and coffee time will be served outdoors. For our most vulnerable, please be reminded that Livestream of the worship services continue to be available at bethelcrc.org.
ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL: “Reconciled: A Biblical Approach to Racial Unity.” This fall Elaine is going to lead a study that searches Scripture for answers on how to address struggles related to ethnic disunity in the world and in the church. The curriculum is supplied by the Center for Biblical Unity. Here is the website and source: Reconciled: Small Group Curriculum (centerforbiblicalunity.com). The class is tentatively scheduled for 5 pm on Sunday Sept. 12, 19; Oct. 3, 10, 17, 26. You may sign up on the library table or contact Elaine directly.
SECRETARY SUBSTITUTE NEEDED: If you are willing to substitute for Sherry September 27-October 1, please email her at office@bethelcrc.org or phone 354-2361. The work will be approximately 8-10 hours for the week and days are flexible.
SEARCH COMMITTEE UPDATE: We have recently completed our church profile, which, in conjunction with the basic facts about our church, includes much of the input we received from the congregational surveys that were submitted this summer. The profile has now been approved by Council, and as we begin searching for candidates to apply for our pastor position, it will be an essential element in helping these potential candidates get to know us as a church. A digital copy of the profile was e-mailed out to you on Friday, but if you wish to have a hard copy, several are available in the back of church for you to take. You can also contact the church office or one of the Search Committee members (listed below) if you need a copy e-mailed to you. Please continue to pray for wisdom and God's guidance as we begin to advertise the position and seek out candidates!
