PASTOR KEN BOONSTRA’S contact information is in the printed bulletin.

LUNCH ON THE LAWN: Weather permitting, we will have lunch on the lawn next Sunday, September 12, immediately following the 10 am service. Lunch on the lawn is a Fall Kick-Off celebration and everyone is invited to stay and enjoy a meal and fellowship. Bethel Hospitality will provide all the food, you only need to bring lawn chairs! Volunteers are welcome to help in the kitchen or to set up tables, chairs and canopies outside, beginning at 9 am. Postponed if raining.

SUNDAY SCHOOL: We are looking forward to welcoming all students K-12 back to Sunday School next week, September 12! Please note that classes will begin at 9 am as our worship service will remain at 10 am year-round. Printed information was placed in church mailboxes last week. Contact Glenda Elgersma if you have questions.

ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL: “Reconciled: A Biblical Approach to Racial Unity.” This fall Elaine is going to lead a study that searches Scripture for answers on how to address struggles related to ethnic disunity in the world and in the church. The curriculum is supplied by the Center for Biblical Unity. Here is the website and source: Reconciled: Small Group Curriculum (centerforbiblicalunity.com). The class is tentatively scheduled for 5 pm on Sunday Sept. 12, 19; Oct. 3, 10, 17, 26. You may sign up on the library table or contact Elaine directly.

VOLUNTEER WORK PARTY: Habitat for Humanity needs help with basic interior framing at their Telegraph Road site. We would like to get a group together from Bethel to join a group from Second CRC on Friday, September 17. If you are able to help, please contact Doug Van Andel. Lunch will be provided.

GEMS: We look forward to having our first meeting on Monday, October 11!

UPDATE FROM ADMIN TEAM:

• We are thankful for the safe arrival of Pastor Ken Boonstra, Anita and Erin. We were especially appreciative of Pastor Boonstra’s willingness to lead last Sunday’s service on such short notice!

• The congregation is encouraged to remain spread out in the sanctuary during the coming weeks; this includes trying to sit in every other row.

• We continue meeting with ministry coordinators and staff. We discussed the upcoming Advent and worship calendar with Elaine Vos, our worship coordinator. Elaine works hard bringing all the aspects of our worship together—music, technology and special services. Thank you to those who assist her. Feel free to contact Elaine if you are willing to participate in the services in any way.

• Thank you to Ed Ball and David Vos for updating the Bethel website: bethelcrc.org

• We briefly discussed the current Afghan refugee situation facing our nation. If anyone in our church family is interested in pursuing how we can or should help, please contact one of the Administration team members. We know the Spirit is moving among us, but as an Administration team we don’t know how He is nudging you or our church body until we get it on the table. We welcome your prayers and thoughts. ~Keith Korthuis, Jacob Steiger, Randy Knutzen, Marilyn Haak, Alvin Vos
