BIRTHDAY BLESSINGS to Bonnie Litorja who will celebrate her 80th birthday tomorrow, October 11!

THANK YOU: a sincere and heartfelt thank you to all the prayer warriors, those who brought meals, flowers and sent cards and well-wishes throughout my 2 1/2-year journey with cancer. My treatments ended last week and the prognosis is good! God has blessed me through all of you and I am so thankful. In Him, Sue Meenderinck.

SEARCH COMMITTEE UPDATE: After much prayer, research, listening to sermons and discussion, the Search Committee has sent emails to 12 prospective pastors to inquire whether they would be willing to entertain a call to Bethel. Please be in prayer for these pastors as they seek to discern God’s will for them. Continue to pray also that God will lead us as a Search Committee to the man of His choosing.

SPECIAL SERVICES COMMITTEE: Looking for people to serve on the planning committee for Thanksgiving, Advent and Christmas services. Contact Elaine if this piques your interest! We appreciate different areas of “expertise”: artful décor, worship and liturgical elements, brainstorming on congregational participation. Time commitment is about 3 planning meetings in October and November and then divvying up tasks to work on separately.

SECURITY TEAM MEMBERS NEEDED: We are still looking for individuals willing to monitor the church during worship services. If you are interested in serving, please talk to Jacob Steiger.

AFGHAN REFUGEES: If you are interested in helping Bethel explore opportunities to serve Afghan refugees, join us in the front of church after the service next Sunday, Oct. 17. We are looking to form a team of people willing to research, explore and implement a strategy to help those displaced by the crisis in Afghanistan (or maybe elsewhere?) For more information, research Whatcom Refugee Resettlement Project on Facebook.
