BIRTHDAY BLESSINGS to Jo Mans who is celebrating her 85th birthday today and to Herb Korthuis who will celebrate his 86th birthday on Saturday, October 23!

CONGRATULATIONS to Kevin and Kristen Steiger on the birth of Isaac Steven on September 22! Kevin and Kristen’s latest newsletter (and birth announcement) was included in the Friday email.

BUTTERBRAIDS FOR SALE: Contact one of our Bethel GEMS if you wish to purchase butterbraids or cookie dough. Deadline for orders is October 25 with delivery scheduled for November 22.

PUZZLES: The puzzles have been moved to shelves on the south side of the library.

SPECIAL SERVICES COMMITTEE: Looking for people to serve on the planning committee for Thanksgiving, Advent and Christmas services. Contact Elaine if this piques your interest! We appreciate different areas of “expertise”: artful décor, worship and liturgical elements, brainstorming on congregational participation. Time commitment is about 3 planning meetings in October and November and then divvying up tasks to work on separately.

SECURITY TEAM MEMBERS NEEDED: We are still looking for individuals willing to monitor the church during worship services. If you are interested in serving, please talk to Jacob Steiger or send him an email.

AFGHAN REFUGEES: If you are interested in helping Bethel explore opportunities to serve Afghan refugees, join us in the front of church after the service today. We are looking to form a team of people willing to research, explore and implement a strategy to help those displaced by the crisis in Afghanistan (or maybe elsewhere?) For more information, research Whatcom Refugee Resettlement Project on Facebook.
