HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Gerrit Van Andel who will celebrate his 98th birthday on Saturday, March 23!
THIS EVENING we welcome Pastor Jim Carberry of Waters Edge Church in Birch Bay.
LENT: As we enter the season of Lent, you will notice the elements of purple in our sanctuary. This color symbolizes penitence and sorrow for sin, and also signifies royalty. These two seemingly opposite ideas come together as we remember that Jesus, the King of Kings, took our sin and shame upon Himself and was crucified to purchase forgiveness of sin for those who trust in Him. Hallelujah! What a Savior!
FAITH PROMISE: Today we are passing out Faith Promise pledge cards. Hopefully many have had time to prayerfully consider their pledge this week. You may place your cards in the offering bag when the offering is taken.
GEMS: Tomorrow, March 18, is our GEMS & GENTS EVENT! Please bring your dad (or grandpa, uncle, or male family friend) to our WESTERN NIGHT! Dress in your plaids, flannels, jeans, & boots (bandanas and hats will add to the fun, too!) and come at 7:00 ready for good old-fashioned fun and some tasty chow!
SHINE: We are going bowling this Wednesday. Please gather at the youth house at 6:45 pm and bring $5.00.
ADVANCE NOTICE:
• No Sunday School or pm service March 31
• Blessing shower April 7
WOMENS RETREAT is this weekend, March 22-23! We would like to remind you of a couple of things before we see you on Friday:
1. Make sure to bring a wrapped white elephant gift for our game on Friday.
2. Don’t forget to bring a snack to share.
3. Registration begins Friday at 4pm, with our welcome gathering beginning at 6pm.
4. Saturday our morning will begin at 8:15 with devotions.
5. We will in the Fireside Lodge (same location as our last retreat). Find your way by following the pink ribbon.
We are so excited to see you all! As a committee we pray that this weekend may be a blessing to all the ladies involved.
PALM SUNDAY CHOIR: Do you miss singing in choir? The Sunday School children would like to invite your participation in a song they are preparing for our Palm Sunday Service. Talk to Elaine or Amy Vandenberg if you would like to be part of this choir! Practice time depends on availability – some rehearsals would be with the Sunday School before the service.
NEW CHURCH DIRECTORY: Thank you for your completed information forms. We still need many of you to fill out a form and put it in the gold box in the library. Please send pictures to: office@bethelcrc.org. Deadline is March 24. Questions and/or comments can be directed to Dorothy Greenough or Sherry Vos.
CHURCH SECRETARY SUBSTITUTE NEEDED: If you would be willing to serve as a substitute church secretary when Sherry has time off, please contact a member of the Executive Committee (Ed Ball, Dick Drost, Ken Herwerden, Tim Holleman, Keith Korthuis, or Pastor Steve). Thanks!
THANK YOU: On behalf of the Christian Hope Association, I wish to express our deepest appreciation for your donation of $2,500 in January. Your support is not only invaluable to our neighbors but a tremendous encouragement to those of us who work and volunteer here. –Don Kok, Executive Director, Christian Hope Association
