Follow- Well Dr. deSilva, I have just finished the course. At the end, you told us that reading them can give us a better appreciation of how knowledge of the Apocrypha can help us in deepening our engagement with the Scriptures. Amen, sir. Mission accomplished, and job well done. A fantastic course.
- Delighted that you found the experience worthwhile! As you can tell, I really love these texts. :)
- Ah yes, but do you have a sticker on the back of your car that sys "ASK ME ABOUT THE APOCRYPHA!"... the true sign of the Apocrypha Obsessed, LOL! Blessings!
- I just started this course and realized that I need resources from the Platinum package. I have Gold. Can anyone recommend the necessary resources they find most beneficial?
- The resource linked to most often in the course is David deSilva's Introducing the Apocrypha: Message, Context, and Significance (https://www.logos.com/product/2817/introducing-the-apocrypha-message-context-and-significance). You may also want to pick up Charles' translation of the apocrypha and pseudepigrapha (https://www.logos.com/product/4237/the-apocrypha-and-pseudepigrapha-of-the-old-testament-in-english).
- Hey all! Firstly, I'm really enjoying Dr. deSilva's course and Learning Much! Quick question: can anyone give me a quick explanation of what is meant by the expression "Deuteronomy's philosophy of history"? I've seen it come up a couple of times now and am not quite sure what is meant. Dr. deSilva... are you here?! Heeeeeeeelp! :-)
- I'm delighted that you were finding the course helpful! (Sorry that I dip into my Faithlife feed so seldom!)
- No worries, sir! By the way, I had the pleasure of meeting Cynthia Long Westfall, whom I believe you know from your work on the CEB, back in the Spring. She certainly speaks Most Highly of you!
- Yes, I've known Dr. Westfall for quite some years now. She also did her dissertation work in Hebrews (a few years after I did mine -- and after I wrote my commentary on Hebrews as well, I think), so we connected at first around our mutual interest and her research in particular. She's done so much since!
