Sermon

July 4, 2021                                                                       Acts 13:42-52

FAITH IS A JOURNEY – Part 8

I.         Sometimes you’re ____________ to _________ put.

As Paul and Barnabas were leaving the synagogue, the people invited them to speak further about these things on the next Sabbath.  When the congregation was dismissed, many of the Jews and devout converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, who talked with them and urged

them to continue in the grace of God.                                      Acts 13:42-43

On the next Sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the word

of the Lord.                                                                                                Acts 13:44

II.        Sometimes you’re ____________ for ____________ out.

When the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and talked

abusively against what Paul was saying.                                      Acts 13:45

Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly:  "We had to speak the word of God to you first.  Since you reject it and do not consider your-

selves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles. For this is what the Lord has commanded us:  "'I have made you a light for the Gentiles,

that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.'"

                                                                                                      Acts 13:46-47

III.       Sometimes you’re ___________ to ___________ out.

When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the

Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed.  The word of

the Lord spread through the whole region.                            Acts 13:48-49

But the Jews incited the God-fearing women of high standing and the leading men of the city. They stirred up persecution against Paul and

Barnabas, and expelled them from their region.  So they shook the dust from their feet in protest against them and went to Iconium.  And the

disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.      Acts 13:50-52

NEXT STEPS

1.       Remain steadfast wherever God has planted you

until He tells you differently. Remember that your

journey and mine is one of trusting in God’s plan.

God’s grace will enable you and me to serve Him

faithfully so that others hear and can be free at last.

2.       Refuse to be shaken from your faith when the

enemy starts abusing you and your faith. Satan

likes things to continue the same and for people to

just go through religious practices. But, God uses us

to help people embrace a relationship with Jesus.

3.       Resist the urge to give up when you experience

conflict concerning your faith. Instead, look for the

opportunities to spread out to others who are ready

to begin a faith journey with Jesus. Enjoy your own

journey as the Holy Spirit fills you with His power.
