FAITH IS A JOURNEY – Part 14

I.         _______________ greatly all of God’s _____________.

Then the apostles and elders, with the whole church, decided to choose some of their own men and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. They chose Judas (called Barsabbas) and Silas, two men who were leaders

among the brothers.                                                                             Acts 15:22

With them they sent the following letter:  The apostles and elders, your

brothers, To the Gentile believers in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia:  Greetings.

We have heard that some went out from us without our authorization and disturbed you, troubling your minds by what they said.  So we all agreed

to choose some men and send them to you with our dear friends Barnabas and Paul--men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord

Jesus Christ.                                                                                         Acts 15:23-26

II.        _______________ concisely God’s ________________.

Therefore we are sending Judas and Silas to confirm by word of mouth

what we are writing.  It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements:

                                                                                                       Acts 15:27-28

You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality.  You will do well to avoid

these things.  Farewell.                                                                                       Acts 15:29

III.       ___________ regularly your fellow ______________.

The men were sent off and went down to Antioch, where they gathered

the church together and delivered the letter.  The people read it and were

glad for its encouraging message.  Judas and Silas, who themselves were

prophets, said much to encourage and strengthen the brothers.

                                                                                                        Acts 15:30-32

After spending some time there, they were sent off by the brothers with the blessing of peace to return to those who had sent them.  But Paul and Barnabas remained in Antioch, where they and many others taught and

NEXT STEPS

1.       Honor and respect anyone God appoints to carry His

message out to you. For, their responsibility is great

to serve God by protecting you with His truth. It is

foolish to listen to other unaccountable fools.

2.       Be careful to stick within what God has said when

you try to help others to know His Word and will.

The Bible is our standard and keeps us free to enjoy

life as God intended for our journey of faith.

3.       Intentionally encourage your church family at Blue

Rock. Each one of us is bombarded with negativity.     on a daily basis. So, let’s counter those attacks daily

Biblically and/or prayerfully as a family.

The Senior Citizens Group will meet at 11:30 on Tuesday, August 17 at the Parlor House.

Executive Leadership Board will meet Wednesday, August 18 at 5:00 pm and the congregation is welcome at 6:30 pm.

Ladies of Blue Rock Church: Spirit Lifters are hosting a bible study at Front Mountain Ranch (AKA Gwen Gates’ 6920 Slabtown Rd Waynesboro) in the picnic area out back. We’ll meet on Saturdays in August at 9:15 am instead of Sunday mornings at church. Questions?? Call (717) 729-0145. Hope to see you there!

Back to Church Sunday with a Church Picnic: September 12. More information to follow.

Opt into Clearstream for church events, updates and prayer requests. Text Bluerock to 94000. You may opt out at any time.

We are looking for Greeters for Sunday mornings starting September 13th for Back to Church Sunday. Greeters will look a little different then in the past.

A Greeter's description is:

1. Create a welcoming environment.

2. Offer coffee and make connections.

Greeters offer guests coffee and make connections.

3. Make introductions.

Greeters introduce the guests to the teacher/leader of small groups and Sunday School Classes. It’s helpful if the greeter and group members are wearing name tags.

4. Provide Welcome packet materials.

These are located on the Welcome Center stand along with a bulletin

5. Introduce the pastor.

Before or after the worship service the greeter introduces the guests to the pastor and other staff members as appropriate. Our pastor and staff really appreciate this because it makes follow-up on their part much easier as they can now place a name and face. Greeters can be some of the most important people to Blue Rock!!

See Stephanie Doell if interested.

There is a sign-up sheet on bulletin board outside office.
