September 5, 2021                                                      Hebrews 4:1-13

RESTFUL LIVING

I.         Restful living is                       to active                       .

Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be care-ful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it. For we also have had the gospel preached to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because those who heard did not combine

it with faith.                                                                                      Hebrews 4:1-2

Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said, “So I declared on oath in My anger, ‘They shall never enter My rest.'" And yet His work has been finished since the creation of the world. For some-where He has spoken about the seventh day in these words: "And on the

seventh day God rested from all His work." And again in the passage

above He says, “They shall never enter my rest."

Hebrews 4: 3-5

II.        Restful living is                           with                         .

It still remains that some will enter that rest, and those who formerly had the gospel preached to them did not go in, because of their disobedience.

Therefore God again set a certain day, calling it Today, when a long time later He spoke through David, as was said before: "Today, if you hear His

voice, do not harden your hearts."                                         Hebrews 4:6-7

For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God;

for anyone who enters God's rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from His. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so

that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience.

Hebrews 4:8-11

III.       Restful living is                         by God’s                           .

For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it

judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.                               Hebrews 4:12

Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

Hebrews 4:13

NEXT STEPS

1.       Find rest each day and for eternity by putting your        faith into action.  You must act by faith in Jesus as

your Savior and LORD. God’s blessings are poured

out on all those who please Him by faith daily.

2.       Find rest through being obedient more and more

each day of your life. Hold nothing back from God

and you will experience the abundant life that He

has in store for you. You will please Him greatly.

3.       Find rest through allowing God’s Word to be like an

MRI that is able to identify things that aren’t right

deep inside of you. Then, let Him address them so

that He can mold you into His child of love.

We are looking for Greeters for Sunday mornings starting September 19th for Back to Church Sunday. Greeters will look a little different then in the past.

A Greeter's description is:

1. Create a welcoming environment.

2. Offer coffee and make connections.

Greeters offer guests coffee and make connections.

3. Make introductions.

Greeters introduce the guests to the teacher/leader of small groups and Sunday School Classes. It’s helpful if the greeter and group members are wearing name tags.

4. Provide Welcome packet materials.

These are located on the Welcome Center stand along with a bulletin

5. Introduce the pastor.

Before or after the worship service the greeter introduces the guests to the pastor and other staff members as appropriate. Our pastor and staff really appreciate this because it makes follow-up on their part much easier as they can now place a name and face. Greeters can be some of the most important people to Blue Rock!!

See Stephanie Doell if interested-bluerockstephanie@gmail.com.

There is a sign-up sheet on bulletin board outside office.

Senior Citizens Group will meet Tuesday, September 21st at 11:30 am at the Parlor House.

The excitement is building. Be a part of the excitement while we create a whole new look for the foyer!

Please pardon our appearance during this transformation.
