Keeping Hope
I. We have of a God who .
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. John 1:1-3
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created. Colossian 1:15, 16
In him was life, and that life was the light of men John 1:4
II. We have in a God who .
There came a man who was sent from God, his name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe. He himself was not the light.
John 1:6-8
The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. John 1:5
III. We have in Christ who has .
The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world. John 1:9
The Father loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God . . . . take heart, I have overcome the world.
John 16:27, 33
NEXT STEPS
1. Strive to recognize God’s revelation in creation, through His word, through the life of Christ. Be ready to share his truth.
2. Listen to Godly voices, not the calls of the world to embrace enlightened ways or find new truth. God has revealed himself through Jesus. He is the way, the truth, the life. (John 14:6)
3. Choose hope. Look to Jesus for strength and guidance.
Advent Season The first Sunday of Advent is today. If you would be willing to help with the Advent Candle Lighting, please sign the sheet on the bulletin board outside the Pastor’s office. All the reading material is provided. See Pam Hinkle with questions.
Sights and Sounds of Christmas is coming December 12th! If you can play an instrument, sing or would like to do a reading, please see Sherry Goertz.
If you are interested in being in the adult choir, please see Sherry Goertz. Let’s make a Joyful Noise unto the Lord.
There will be NO Youth Group on the following dates: 11/28, 12/12, 12/19, and 12/26. There will be NO Blue Rock Kidz on 11/24, 12/22 and 12/29.
Waynesboro Human Services Angel Tree Project We will be purchasing gift cards for them to distribute to teenagers. Please place your donation in the box located in the foyer or you may put your donation in a green pew envelope (marked “Angel Tree”) and put it in the offering plate. Please make checks payable to the church. Contributions are due December 15th.
The Children of Blue Rock would like your help in collecting mittens, gloves, hats, scarfs and socks for all ages. Decorate the tree in the foyer with your donation! This will continue into mid-January to help through the winter months.
Foyer Renovation Our foyer renovation is still a work in progress. Due to back orders and finding the proper items. We are hoping to be near or at full completion by the end of the year. Thank you to those who have made the kind comments on the work that has been done so far.
Tithing Boxes After an in-depth discussion to encourage online giving and to put in tithing boxes, the Executive Leadership Board decided to go with the tithing boxes instead of passing the plates. The ELB philosophy behind the boxes is that there will be an improved flow in the service and volunteers freed up to serve in other areas. This will start on January 1, 2022. However, the boxes will be installed soon and then could be used as people choose. But, we will transition to them completely as of the new year for all of our donations.
How to Give Online: We encourage you to begin giving through our new online giving platform, Faithlife Giving. It’s easy to make one-time and recurring gifts, plus view your giving history.
Simply go to www.bluerockchurch.org and click ‘giving’ in the top right corner of the webpage.
or text “Give” with the amount (e.g. “Give $50”) to 717-200-4911 and follow the prompts. For a recurring gift, you’ll need to create a Faithlife account so you can keep track of your giving methods.
Please contact the church office if you have any questions. Thank you for being part of what God is doing at Blue Rock Church!
Clearstream: Opt into the Blue Rock Church Wide text service for
updates on church services, new events, prayer requests and weather related matters.
With Winter Weather approaching, it will be the fastest and most accurate way for the church to communicate with the congregation.
Test Bluerock to 94000, you will receive a text back asking for your name to verify the number.
Something Exciting is coming, January 2022: Blue Rock’s monthly Newsletter! If you would like to receive the newsletter, please provide the office with your current updated email address. Let’s stay connected!

CHRISTMAS GIFT FOR JESUS
Throughout the Advent season, Blue Rock Church will be
receiving a special offering called: Christmas Gift for Jesus. This fund will be utilized to continue the effort to replace the non-working air conditioners in Fellowship Hall. With climate control the room will be more comfortable and help with other issues as well. Please use one of the green envelopes and mark it Christmas Gift For Jesus and place it in the new tithing boxes or in the offering plate. The tithing boxes are located on your left coming into the sanctuary through the double doors and in the small hallway exiting the front of the sanctuary. Please consider giving to this very worthwhile cause as you plan your giving. For, as God gave His best (Jesus) to us. May we give back out of love for Him and our neighbor?
