January 2, 2022 Acts 1:6-11
FACING THE FUTURE TOGETHER
I. God gathers us to ___________ our ____________.
So when they met together, they asked Him, “Lord, are you at this time
going to restore the kingdom to Israel?" Acts 1:6
He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father
has set by His own authority. Acts 1:7
II. Gathered prayer _____________ us for ___________.
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to
the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8
After He said this, He was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid
Him from their sight. Acts 1:9
III. Gathering to worship ______________ us to _________.
They were looking intently up into the sky as He was going, when
suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. Acts 1:10
"Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky?
This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come
back in the same way you have seen Him go into heaven." Acts 1:11
NEXT STEPS
1. Get into a small group like a Sunday School class or
other smaller gathering to be informed of God’s
Word and will for your life on a regular basis.
2. Make prayer a mutual privilege and priority for
your small group asking God to empower you all to
be His witness to those around each one of you.
3. Worship Jesus weekly in a large and small group
experience so that you don’t get stuck wondering
how you are going to move forward in the future.
Reminder: You are never alone unless you want to be.
The future is bright as we trust that Jesus goes with us
each and every day. Together, we are able to become more like Him as we do life with one another. Our hope
will attract the lost to become disciples too.
Memory Verse
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:18-20
CHRISTMAS GIFT FOR JESUS
Throughout the Advent season, Blue Rock Church will be
receiving a special offering called: Christmas Gift for Jesus. This fund will be utilized to continue the effort to replace the non-working air conditioners in Fellowship Hall. With climate control the room will be more comfortable and help with other issues as well. Please use one of the green envelopes and mark it Christmas Gift For Jesus and place it in the new tithing boxes or in the offering plate. The tithing boxes are located on your left coming into the sanctuary through the double doors and in the small hallway exiting the front of the sanctuary. Please consider giving to this very worthwhile cause as you plan your giving. For, as God gave His best (Jesus) to us. May we give back out of love for Him and our neighbor?
Thank You to everyone who contributed to the Angel Tree this year. We were able to give 20 teenagers a $20.00 gift certificate, socks, candy, chapstick, popcorn and hot chocolate. I'm sure that they appreciated your kindness.
The Children of Blue Rock would like your help in collecting mittens, gloves, hats, scarfs and socks for all ages. Decorate the tree in the foyer with your donation! This will continue until January 9.
Senior Citizens will meet January 18 at the Parlor House.
Sound Techs Needed are needed for Sunday Morning Services. Please see Pastor Greg, if interested.
Offering Receivers: We will no longer be needing receivers for the offering come January. Volunteers are needed to be greeters in the lobby. See Stephanie Doell if you are interested.
Bulletin Board Creator: With the 2022 just around the corner, there is a sign up sheet in the hallway, if you would like to create/decorate the monthly bulletin board.
Please Keep in Prayer that God will lift someone up to fill the open Executive Leadership Board Position. In the interim, Pastor Greg will be overseeing Worship along with his other duties.
Something Exciting is coming, January 2022: Blue Rock’s monthly Newsletter! If you would like to receive the newsletter, please provide the office with your current updated email address. Let’s stay connected!
Getting To Know You: Would you like to be our first person, couple or family of the month? Starting in January, we would like to introduce you to the congregation on the big screen with a picture and a short bio.
We also will be starting an online directory through our Faithlife service. This is a private directory for Blue Rock Church only. More information will follow.
Please see Pam Hinkle for sign up for a month this coming year!!
Tithing Boxes After an in-depth discussion to encourage online giving and to put in tithing boxes, the Executive Leadership Board decided to go with the tithing boxes instead of passing the plates. The ELB philosophy behind the boxes is that there will be an improved flow in the service and volunteers freed up to serve in other areas. This will start on January 1, 2022. However, the boxes will be installed soon and then could be used as people choose. But, we will transition to them completely as of the new year for all of our donations.
How to Give Online: We encourage you to begin giving through our new online giving platform, Faithlife Giving. It’s easy to make one-time and recurring gifts, plus view your giving history.
Simply go to www.bluerockchurch.org and click ‘giving’ in the top right corner of the webpage.
or text “Give” with the amount (e.g. “Give $50”) to 717-200-4911 and follow the prompts. For a recurring gift, you’ll need to create a Faithlife account so you can keep track of your giving methods.
Please contact the church office if you have any questions. Thank you for being part of what God is doing at Blue Rock Church!
Clearstream: Opt into the Blue Rock Church Wide text service for
updates on church services, new events, prayer requests and weather related matters.
With Winter Weather approaching, it will be the fastest and most accurate way for the church to communicate with the congregation.
Test Bluerock to 94000, you will receive a text back asking for your name to verify the number.
