A Goodbye Letter from Larry & Kathy

    April 24, 2022

    Dear Cardinal Drive Family,

We announced our move so early that some of you may be wondering.... Why are you still here? Just last Sunday I had several say to me, “I thought you were

gone”. Well... you may be relieved to know that today is my last Sunday at Cardinal Drive.

Kathy and I have always intended to move back to Texas, and we are certainly happy to be nearer Kathy’s parents and family, our children and our precious grandchildren. We know it is a good and right decision, and it appears that God has paved the way for us....

We are both excited and sad - at peace and yet nervous. It is a sad thing to be leaving our Cardinal Drive family and the friends, brothers and sisters that we love so much. We arrived in Illinois 10 years ago in the summer of 2012, and Cardinal Drive immediately became our church home and family. Even before we arrived here, it seems brother, Andy Stark read an article that revealed we were Abilene Christian graduates, and he reached out through a neighbor who was my supervisor at the time. Then Bob and Doris Fisk acted as our real estate agent and helped us find a place to live... The entire congregation was so genuine and welcoming that it seemed clear this was where God wanted us.

In the months and years since, this family has richly blessed us. We have wept and hugged as beloved members moved away, and smiled and hugged some more as new members have arrived. We have proudly watched young ones grow to become adults; we have celebrated marriages and important milestones. We have mourned the loss of loved ones, and we’ve celebrated the miracle of new life.

What has been most evident at Cardinal Drive is God’s presence. His Spirit and His grace is readily apparent in this body, and in each of you – His disciples. Even

now, as we prepare to depart, I see God’s work in you - the renewed commitment to Evangelism, the energy and involvement, the serving spirit, and the love that

binds everything together. You have been a true blessing to us. We love you, we will miss you, and we thank you.

To borrow words from the Apostle Paul, “The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be

    with you all”.

    Blessing,

    Larry & Kathy Calhoun
