The Christmas Story #1 December 5, 2021
I. Jesus Was “in Beginning” – John 1:1–2, 14
II. Jesus Was With God – John 1:1
advocate = an individual called to one’s aid; one who pleads another’s cause before a judge
III. Jesus Became the God/Man – John 1:14
Defender’s Study Bible: This is not the usual word for “dwelt” but rather is the Greek word for “tabernacled.” ...[This word is] related to what has come to be known as the shekinah glory cloud that filled the ancient tabernacle (Exodus 40:34) ...(or the later temple) or in Christ’s human body. In this sense, the disciples “beheld His glory” while He was on earth, and Christ prayed that we would also behold His glory in heaven (John 17:5, 22, 24). (Henry Morris, Defender’s Study Bible (WORDsearch, 2012), Jn 1:14)
