All Things are Become New January 2, 2022
I. We Received a New Birth-1 Peter 1:3; Ephesians 2:1-6; 1 John 3:1
begotten us again = to be regenerated (1 Pet. 1:3, 23). It is equivalent to being a child of God (Gal. 3:26) or to be born of God (John 1:12, 13; 1 John 3:9) or to be born from above (ánōthen [509], John 3:3), or becoming a qualitatively new (kainós [2537]) creation or creature (ktísis [2937]), as in 2 Cor. 5:17. (Spiros Zodhiates, The Complete Word Study Dictionary: New Testament)
II. We Became a New Man-Romans 6:6; Colossians 3:9–10; Galatians 5:16-17
III. We Were Made New Creatures-2 Corinthians 5:17; Colossians 2:10–13
Jesus’s sacrifice brought us “once for all” forgiveness and cleansing (Heb. 9:26–27; 10:1–3; 1 Peter 3:18). Jesus did more than cover our sins; he took them away forever (John 1:29; Heb. 10:11–13; 1 John 3:5). By his one blood offering, he made us perfectly cleansed forever (Heb. 10:14). Our forgiveness is announced as a past tense, completed action (Eph. 4:32; Col. 2:13–14; Heb. 10:17–18; 1 John 2:12). (Andrew Farley, Awakening Your Five Spiritual Senses to the Wonders of Grace)
Galatians 4:6; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; Hebrews 10:14-18
IV. We Have a New Home in Heaven-John 14:1–3; Hebrews 11:13–16
