- SUNDAY IS NEAR! Happy Day! It has been a full week and Sunday is almost here. NOTICE: Our sanctuary HVAC is still down. The machine is old and the part had to be ordered (it will arrive Tuesday). We will have regular Sunday school, but we will MEET UPSTAIRS IN THE YOUTH DEPARTMENT for worship. I know that some of you won't be able to make it up the stairs. I am very sorry for this. I just don't think we can get the sanctuary cool enough for worship. JUNETEENTH was a success. In the words of one of our speakers, "The crowd might have been small, but the energy was great." Thank you to Nakia Mathis, Lisa Stevenson, Erica Hill, and Jo Ann Skillern-Ryce for their faithful leadership and the vast crowd of people who made this celebration possible. Thank God for the gift of freedom and thank you to everyone who came out to help us offer the gift of this festival to our neighbors. CHILDREN'S CAMP was awesome! The children had a great time of worship and fun. Some of the highlights include breaking down on the way to camp (we hung out at a weigh station until Britney's car could be towed and then sat on laps for the last 30 minutes to camp). Britney and Jackie Prosser went all-out as counselors... even to sacrificing their bodies on the slip and slide (the pictures are available for the low price of $9.99!). Thank God for camp and the chance for our kids to make personal decisions for Christ. I'm looking forward to Sunday as we celebrate Father's Day (thanks to all the men who nurture our families), but I'm going to be preaching about "Speaking the Whole Truth" when it comes to God. This is the question to ponder: Who are your favorite people… and does favoritism get in the way of your love for others? I love my friends and look forward to seeing you Sunday! Prayer Updates: Alan Frazier is recovering well from his knee surgery. It will be several weeks before he can walk unassisted, but they expect a full recovery. Joshua Bartlett is recovering from surgery on a deviated septum. The doctors are pleased, but he's still a little groggy. I'm afraid I'm out of the loop for other requests from this week. I look forward to "catching up".

Recognize that these tests are also an opportunity for the People of God to show the love of God (we don't have to give an ugly response to hurtful comments or reports). We also get to calmly speak the hope of God for His people... the fact that all lives are valuable to God and that He hopes that we will nurture life from conception to death. Continue to pray for the war in Ukraine and consider how we as a church can help the refugees who will soon come to Chattanooga. I love my friends.
