Leader: This is a place of hope, healing, and love.

People: Our hearts and spirits are in need of God’s healing touch.

Leader: Here you will be cherished and nurtured.

People: Praise be to God, who offers to us such a place of comfort.

AMEN.

†Morning Invocation

What is an Invocation?

Lord, we have heard the story of Jacob as he wrestled with the angel, how he asked for the angel to bless him. We, too, come to you for blessing. There are so many times in our lives in which we have felt alienated, downtrodden, alone. It is easy for us to wallow in our misery, to whine about all the perceived injustices that have been heaped upon us.

But you encourage us to stand strong; to seek the blessings that you have provided for us; to recognize the many ways that you are with us, giving us strength and courage. Be with us again, precious Lord. Guide us. Help us receive your blessings and, in turn, be a blessing to someone else.

For we ask these things in the name of Jesus Christ our Savior. AMEN.

All: Amen.

Song of Adoration

“Praise Is What I Do” W. Murphy

Affirmation of Faith

What is The Apostles' Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.

Amen.

Gloria Patri*

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end.

Amen. Amen.

October Is Clergy Appreciation Month!

Pastor Appreciation Month is an opportunity for congregations to give thanks to God for their pastors. It is a time to demonstrate to their Pastors genuine appreciation for their service. We encourage you to take time to let our pastors know how much their ministry means to you. And, don’t forget to lift up our Pastor and his family in prayer on a regular basis.

T-Shirt Order

After church service, please see Jackie Fanion in the back of church on TODAY to place your order for a polo shirt or t-shirt. The polo shirts are $30.00 each and the T-shirts are $20.00 each. Both come in red or white, with the Centenary logo, in all sizes.

Jackie Fanion can be reached at 901-679-5189 (mobile) or jackiefanion@gmail.com. She can accept cash or check only. Thank you very much.

All Saints Sunday

All Saints Sunday will be celebrated on November 2nd. Since the early days of the Christian church, there has been a day set aside each year for remembering and celebrating the lives of those believers who have gone before us. All Saints is a time when we remember and give thanks for all those whose faith has enriched our own; whose love for God has caused our own love to be deepened. We join our hearts with all who have, throughout our lives, been “saints” to us, especially those in our community of faith who have died in the past year.

If you have lost a loved one within the past year and would like to have a candle lit in their memory for All Saints Sunday, please contact the church office, 901-774-7604.

Veterans’ Sunday

Sunday, November 9th, we will honor and recognize our veterans – retired or former members of the military – and those who are currently serving!

We ask that all active military and veterans participate by wearing your uniforms, hat, or military paraphernalia.

If you would like for your name or the name of your family member to be added to the military list, please contact the church office to provide the needed information.

Angel Tree

It is that time of year again. We have received some of the requests from Prison Fellowship and waiting for their completion. Please prepare to participate. The Angel Tree program is designed to provide gifts to children as a token of love. It was specifically designed for children of persons whoare inmates within a prison facility. We extend our program to include children of our church. This year we will follow the same guidelines as proposed by Prison Fellowship for the national Angel Tree Program. Gifts will be purchased and distributed accordingly.

Item #1: Each child will receive two (2) gifts: one article of clothing and one toy, or fun item specifically requested by child.

Item #2: All gifts should cost between $20 to $30. We request that you try to adhere to the guidelines as close as possible. Additional information will be posted in next week’s bulletin.

If you would like to have your child(ren) to participate in this program, please contact either Ms. Kierra Taylor or William Hines by next Sunday to get the appropriate paperwork.
