What is an Invocation?

Faithful God, we come before you with many issues on our hearts. We get frustrated and angry at the way things are going in the world. We want your immediate intervention; and when we don’t see things happening the way we think they should be, we are quick to dismiss you and any thought of your presence. Help us stop our selfishness and our quick anger.

Remind us that you will work with us and through us for peace and hope. Release us from the traps of quick tests of your faithfulness and help us see the “big picture” of your awesome love that spans all of time. Forgive us for our pettiness and our stubbornness. Bring us back to you, O Lord. Help us shout your praises and live lives of joyful service. For we ask these things in Jesus’ Name. AMEN.

Cox Hall. The interviews will be conducted by Mr. Taylor St. John, Director of the Orpheum Theatre’s Neighborhood Play Program. Centenary’s MICAH core team will meet on Thursday, November 20th, at 5:30 pm (same day of our marker dedication) in the W. A. Miller Room. Be a part of the team whose mission is to have a just Memphis community.

 Advent season is the beginning of the liturgical year.  

It is a season of expectation and anticipation, preparation 

and contemplation.  It is four weeks of preparing our hearts 

to receive Jesus our Savior, who will bring incredible promise, healing, hope for peace on earth, and joy to the world.

Beginning November 30th, we will have a family to light the 

Advent candles on each of the Four Sundays in Advent and read scriptures as part of the Advent Liturgical Celebration.

The Hanging of the Greens service will be on November 30, 2025. This service is one of decorating the sanctuary with the symbols of life - evergreens and lights. We will pre-decorate our sanctuary on Monday, November 24th at 10:30 a.m. Volunteers are welcome!!

The Angel Tree program is designed to provide gifts to children as a token of love. It was specifically designed for children of persons that are inmates within a prison facility. We extend our program to include children of our church. This year we will follow the same guidelines as proposed by Prison Fellowship for the national Angel Tree Program. Gifts will be purchased and distributed accordingly.

Item #1: Each child will receive two (2) gifts: one article of clothing and one toy, or fun item specifically requested by child.

Item #2: All gifts should cost between $20 to $30. We request that you try to adhere to the guidelines as closely as possible.

Additional information will be posted in next week’s bulletin.

We will post the requests online as soon as we acquire them and the link will be posted in the bulletin. Please, when you take a child’s name, purchase both gifts. His/Her name may be online in duplicate to ensure this. Thanks to everyone.
