Lay Me Down

Verse 1

With this heart open wide From the depths from the heights

I will bring a sacrifice

With these hands lifted high Hear my song, hear my cry

I will bring a sacrifice I will bring a sacrifice

Lay me down, lay me down Woah oh ooh

Hand on my heart this much is true There’s no life apart from you

Lay me down, lay me down Lay me down, lay me down

Verse 2

Letting go of my pride Giving up all my rights

Take this life and let it shine Take this life and let it shine

Brethren We Have Met To Worship

Verse 1

Brethren, we have met to worship and adore the Lord our God;

Will you pray with all your power, while we try to preach the Word?

All is vain unless the Spirit of the Holy One comes down;

Brethren, pray, and holy manna will be showered all around.

Verse 2

Brethren, see poor sinners round you slumbering on the brink of woe

Death is coming hell is moving can you bear to let them go?

See our father and our mothers and our children sinking down;

Brethren, pray, and holy manna will be showered all around.

Verse 3

Let us love our God supremely, let us love each other, too;

Let us love and pray for sinners, till our God makes all things new.

Then He’ll call us home to Heaven, at His table we’ll sit down;

Christ will gird Himself and serve us with sweet manna all around.

Glory to God Forever

Verse 1

Before the world was made before you spoke it to be

You were the King of Kings yeah you were, yeah you were

 And now you’re reigning still enthroned above all things

Angels and saints cry out we join them as we sing

Chorus

Glory to God, Glory to God Glory to God, Forever!

Glory to God, Glory to God Glory to God, Forever!

Verse 2

Creator God you gave me breath so I could praise

Your great and matchless name all my days, all my days

So let my whole life be a blazing offering

A life that shouts and sings the greatness of the King

Bridge

Take my life and let it be

All for you and for your glory

Take my life and let it be yours

You Gave Your Life Away

Verse 1

You spoke and worlds were formed

You breathed and life was born

You knew that one day You would come

So far from Heaven’s throne, clothed in human form

You showed the world the Father’s love

Chorus

You gave, you gave Your life away

You gave, You gave Your life away

You gave, You gave Your life away for me

Your grace has broken every chain

My sins are gone, my debt’s been paid

You gave, You gave Your life away for me, for me

Verse 2

You lived a sinless life, yet You were crucified

You brought our freedom on the cross

Forsaken for our sin, You died and rose again

Jesus, You are the Lamb of God

Bridge

How glorious is Your love

If I could sing forever it’s not enough

How glorious is Your love

If I could sing forever it’s not enough It’s not enough, cause

Key Verse

1 Corinthians 6:19–20ESV

Sermon

1. God is building us up into a living temple.

The temple is the picture God used to show us how to worship and show us His holiness.

Exodus 25:8–9

Acts 7:48–50

2. The indwelling Spirit empowers us to take the Gospel to the world.

In Acts 1:8 Jesus promises that the Holy Spirit will empower us to take the Gospel to the nations.

John 16:7–15

3. The Spirit gives us gifts to use to build up the body.

As the temple of the living God we are given gifts as He chooses to build up the body of Christ. Our spiritual gifts come through the Holy Spirit so that together we are a fully functional church.

1 Corinthians 12:11

Galatians 5:22–23

4. The Spirit moves our worship to God.

When our worship is directed to the God who made the heavens and earth it’s all good. When it’s directed anywhere else it brings destruction. Our bodies are a temple of the Holy Spirit who lives in us as a gift from God. We are a people made to worship God. The Holy Spirit makes it possible.

Psalm 150:6

Discuss
  1. How is God building us up as His temple?
  2. When you think of taking the Gospel to all the nations does it seem like an overwhelming task? How can starting with our community help us complete the task?
  3. How are you encouraged knowing God dwells in you through the Holy Spirit and uniquely gifts you to be an indispensable part in His church?
  4. When God is the object of our worship our temple is in tune with the One who made us, died for us, and lives in us. How does this impact your understanding of worship?
  5. How does worship in your everyday life impact your understanding of God’s love for you?
