Sunday, August 29
Acts twelve is a remarkable passage and a roller coaster of emotion. It begins with opposition and suffering as James (the brother of John) is killed by Herod. Peter is arrested and held for trial and eventual death. The church prays and God powerfully and miraculously delivers Peter. When he comes to where the believers are praying the young lady who opens the door is so startled she leaves the fugitive Peter standing in the street. The chapter ends with God's judgment upon Herod and the triumph of God's Word.
I'm excited to share these events with you and excited for you to see how God is at work in both suffering and deliverance. As Christians we can easily become discouraged when facing opposition, however, Acts 12 leaves us with this wonderful truth: But the word of God increased and multiplied (Acts 12:24).
