On October 17, 2021, the voting members of Cornerstone voted to close the church. The Lord gave us a remarkable unity and clarity in this process. After He called our faithful pastor, Tom Parr, to a new ministry at BJU Press, we felt that it was wisest to discontinue this particular local expression of Christ’s body. The Lord was at the same time calling several other families to other places in the country.
Our final service was held October 24, 2021, and featured the baptism of two adult converts to Christianity and one teenager. We rejoice in what the Lord has done and will do through the 15-year ministry of Cornerstone Baptist Church of Anacortes, Washington.
The church voted to cease as a spiritual entity on October 24, 2021, and as a legal one on December 31, 2021, so that our assets could be donated to other Christian ministries in Washington and around the world. Those assets have in fact been distributed, and all Cornerstone accounts have been closed.
Audio sermons will remain indefinitely on the Faithlife Sermons service (see below). Video sermons from the COVID era, too, are available on YouTube.
