PRAYER OF CONFESSION

God of mercy,

your command to love one another

across all differences

opens us to new horizons,

yet we often respond with fear and judgment

that hinders your goal for humanity.

Forgive our sins, we pray,

and give us a true repentance

that leads to life for all creation.

We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

WORDS OF FORGIVENESS

HYMN #581 “Glory Be to the Father”

Glory be to the Father,

and to the Son,

and to the Holy Ghost;

as it was in the beginning,

is now, and ever shall be,

world without end.

Amen, amen.

PASSING OF THE PEACE The peace of the Lord, be with you all. And also with you.

HYMN #188 “Jesus Loves Me”  (verses 1-2)

1 Jesus loves me! This I know,

for the Bible tells me so.

Little ones to him belong.

They are weak, but he is strong.

Yes, Jesus loves me!

Yes, Jesus loves me!

Yes, Jesus loves me!

The Bible tells me so.

2 Jesus loves me! This I know,

as he loved so long ago,

taking children on his knee, saying,

"Let them come to me."

Yes, Jesus loves me!

Yes, Jesus loves me!

Yes, Jesus loves me!

The Bible tells me so.

PRAYER OF THE DAY †

God of glory,

whose Beloved took the shadow road

and found life in the darkness:

may his love be our law,

undimmed by the fear

that condemns what it does not understand;

slipping through the hands

of those who cling to sacred power;

making us witness

to the power of new birth;

through Jesus Christ, the Firstborn.

Amen.
