WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS Candle

*CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader:  Hear this, all you peoples; give ear, all inhabitants of the world:

People: We are both low and high; we are rich and poor together;

Leader:  Listening for wisdom, longing for understanding,

People: We incline our ears to hear God’s wisdom in our gathering.

Leader: Let us worship God!

*HYMN 401 “Gather Us In” (verses 1, 2, 4) Ribbon

1 Here in this place the new light is streaming;

now is the darkness vanished away;

see in this space our fears and our dreamings

brought here to you in the light of this day.

Gather us in, the lost and forsaken;

gather us in, the blind and the lame;

call to us now, and we shall awaken;

we shall arise at the sound of our name.

2 We are the young; our lives are a mystery.

We are the old who yearn for your face.

We have been sung throughout all of history,

called to be light to the whole human race.

Gather us in, the rich and the haughty;

gather us in, the proud and the strong;

give us a heart, so meek and so lowly;

give us the courage to enter the song.

4 Not in the dark of buildings confining,

not in some heaven, light years away:

here in this place the new light is shining;

now is the kingdom, and now is the day.

Gather us in and hold us forever;

gather us in and make us your own;

gather us in, all peoples together,

fire of love in our flesh and our bone.

CALL TO CONFESSION

PRAYER OF CONFESSION Cross

Nurturing God, you continue to lead us

in upright ways

on account of your love for us.

Yet we do not always follow your call;

we turn away from you and go our own way.

Forgive us,

and return us to our rightful home in you,

through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.

(Silence for personal confession)

WORDS OF FORGIVENESS

HYMN #581 “Glory Be to the Father” Ribbon

Glory be to the Father,

and to the Son,

and to the Holy Ghost;

as it was in the beginning,

is now, and ever shall be,

world without end.

Amen, amen.

PASSING OF THE PEACE The peace of the Lord, be with you all. And also with you.

HYMN #188 “Jesus Loves Me”

1 Jesus loves me! This I know,

for the Bible tells me so.

Little ones to him belong.

They are weak, but he is strong.

Yes, Jesus loves me!

Yes, Jesus loves me!

Yes, Jesus loves me!

The Bible tells me so.

2 Jesus loves me! This I know,

as he loved so long ago,

taking children on his knee, saying,

"Let them come to me."

Yes, Jesus loves me!

Yes, Jesus loves me!

Yes, Jesus loves me!

The Bible tells me so.

PRAYER OF THE DAY †

Lord of abundance,

Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father who art in heaven… (Hymnal p. 35. We say “debts & debtors.”)

*HYMN #694 “Great God of Every Blessing”   (verses 1-3) Ribbon

1 Great God of every blessing,

of faithful, loving care,

you are the fount of goodness,

the daily bread we share.

How can we hope to thank you?

Our praise is but a start:

sincerely and completely

I offer you my heart.

2 Your Word is our salvation,

the source of endless grace,

in death and life extending

your covenant embrace.

In Christ we are one body;

each member has a part:

sincerely and completely

I offer you my heart.

3 Your Spirit is our teacher,

the light that guides our search,

transforming broken people

into the holy church.

For feeding us with mercy,

for wisdom you impart:

sincerely and completely

I offer you my heart.

*HYMN #716 “God Whose Giving Knows No Ending”  (verses 1-3) Ribbon

1 God, whose giving knows no ending,

from your rich and endless store,

nature's wonder, Jesus' wisdom,

costly cross, grave's shattered door:

gifted by you, we turn to you,

offering up ourselves in praise;

thankful song shall rise forever,

gracious donor of our days.

2 Skills and time are ours for pressing

toward the goals of Christ, your Son:

all at peace in health and freedom,

races joined, the church made one.

Now direct our daily labor,

lest we strive for self alone.

Born with talents, make us servants

fit to answer at your throne.

3 Treasure, too, you have entrusted,

gain through powers your grace conferred:

ours to use for home and kindred,

and to spread the gospel word.

Open wide our hands in sharing,

as we heed Christ's ageless call,

healing, teaching, and reclaiming,

serving you by loving all.
