Shield of Faith
October 6, 2019

Is it just me or does 2019 seem to be passing by extremely quickly? I can’t believe we’ve come to the Month of October already, but I will be very happy to see cooler weather very soon!

This Sunday morning we’ll continue our “FIGHT OF YOUR LIFE” Series dealing with the “Shield of Faith”. Interestingly, God’s Word tells us to “take up (hold up)” this Shield of Faith. Doing so requires both intention and effort on our parts. It doesn’t come automatically.

We’ll deal with this subject in greater detail this Sunday and I am praying that you’ll be with us.

Have a great weekend, keep your shield up and we’ll see each other this Sunday…

Blessings,

Craig

On Sunday Pastor Mike shared about the armor of God. The image provided in Ephesians 6:10-20 is of a soldier. Without a doubt, Paul had in mind a powerful and soldier-like God when he wrote this passage. Mike taught that the armor is not just what God gives us, but it’s the armor that he wears when he is attacked by his enemies. Isaiah 59:17 says, “He put on righteousness as his breastplate, and the helmet of salvation on his head; he put on the garments of vengeance and wrapped himself in zeal as in a cloak.”

Mike based his message on verse 15. He said that a Christian must stand “ready.” To stand firm requires intention and it takes work. An effort must be made to put on these attributes for our protection. We can’t take this position without the proper shoes. The shoes are the gospel of peace, another idea that Paul borrows from Isaiah (See Isaiah 52:7).

Proper knowledge of the gospel is what we need to withstand the attack. Knowledge of the gospel isn’t just about knowing and understanding the message. It means living out the gospel in all areas of our lives. It makes us alert and ready to live life for God and to resist the powers of darkness. We resist the powers of darkness by the proclamation of the gospel. We must be agents of peace and love that are ready to do the will of God.

Please be sure to join us here every Wednesday Night at 6:30 as we have something for every member of your family. We are “training up” our little ones, our Elementary Age Students with Girls Ministry and Royal Rangers, Our Middle and High Schoolers with Light Student Ministries and our Adults as well. We have just started two new Adult Bible Studies: L.I.F.T. for our Ladies and BAND OF BROTHERS for our Men. Be sure to join us each week!

If you are free during weekly mornings, please consider being a part of our Tuesday and Friday Morning Prayer Meetings every week starting at 9:00. You will be glad that you did!

Our Girls ministry is about intentional outreach and Christian discipleship for girls. We want to see every girl moving toward a deep relationship with Jesus Christ. We seek to empower girls to realize their importance and potential in the kingdom of God. We seek a future where girls and leaders — through mentoring and discipleship — form lasting, life-changing friendships.

The Royal Rangers program is an activity-based, small group church ministry for boys in grades K-6th. Royal Rangers is a mentoring program for future men. We provide Christlike character formation and servant leadership development for boys and young men in a highly relational and fun environment. Our mission is to evangelize, equip, and empower the next generation of Christlike men and lifelong servant leaders.

The vision of our Youth ministry is to see generations of young people come to a relationship with Jesus Christ, be transformed by the gospel, live for God’s glory, and share the good news with the people around them.

Our L.I.F.T ministry exists to encourage women to grow spiritually through the Word of God, prayer and fellowship. We empower women to use the gifts and talents God has given them for His purpose. We look for unique ways to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the community around us and beyond.

Breakfasts, Dinners, Retreats and Weekly Meetings are all a part of our “Band of Brothers” Ministry to Men.  Come and be a part of what God is doing with and through our SCC Men!
