Deland Church of the Nazarene

Mother's Day is a special day to honor the role of motherhood in our nation. Suffragist and writer Julia Ward Howe first suggested the idea of Mother's Day in the United States in 1872. Howe was a pacifist and saw the holiday as a chance to unite women and rally for peace. For several years, she held an annual Mother's Day meeting in Boston.

Mother's Day has since turned into a $25 billion commercial holiday. Spending money to treat and bless those moms in our life is important. This year like many in our church family some of our moms are now gone and you are either the mom or still have a mom. I am most grateful that Becky and I had our moms for 50 plus years of our lives. Mom's are special and please take time this month or at least one day to do something special for someone's mom if you still do not have your own here among us.

Proverbs 31:25 is a cool verse! "She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come".

A mom who is clothed with strength and dignity and can laugh at the days to come really speaks of a solid mom and woman of God. I imagine mom's have learned to laugh a lot about all the crazy things they have witnessed their children say and do while growing up. enjoy those moms around you!

Did you mom ever attend this church? If she did there is a good change you will find a picture of her in the Forever photo album that has thousands of Deland Nazarene moms who attended since the 1960's. Click here and see if you can find your mom. Mom Pictures link
