• Can you meditate on this word and share what you are learning by considering the proposal and alternatives that Pharaoh gave to the Israelite? What was the alternative that Moses choose? See verse Exodus 8:27   And Moses said, “To do so is not right, because we will sacrifice to Yahweh our God a thing detestable to the Egyptians. Look, if we sacrifice before their eyes the thing detestable to the Egyptians, will they not stone us?
    1. The alternative proposals  from Pharaoh is for the Israelites to sacrifice In the land, which is against God's command፡ To be set apart . Going for 3 days into the wilderness. So, if the Israelites were to nake the sacrifice in the land it would be  In disobedience to God's command. Therefore the point here is to do what God commands in complete obedience. The type of sacrifice tha Moses spoke of is reason enough only for Pharaoh to consider and not of primary importance.

  • As I was studying and pondering:
As I was studying and pondeirng about the church of Jesus Christ I was reading a letter written by an Apostolic Father Ignatius. This reminded me how his exhortaton corespondes with the admontion of the Paul to Colossians in 3:17. Ignatius says: "Moreover, even those things which you do carnally are, in fact, spiritual, for you do everything in Jesus Christ." Holmes, M. W. (1999). The Apostolic Fathers: Greek texts and English translations (Updated ed.) (143). Grand Rapids, MI: Baker Books.
    1. So, I was listening to a sermon and the pastor had an interesting insight about knowing the genealogy of Christ. He said it was interesting how the meanings of the names of the patriarchs tells the gospel story; Adam means man. Seth means appointed. Enosh means subject to death. Cainan means sorrowful. Mahalalel means from the presence of God. Jared means one comes down. Enoch means dedicated. Methuselah means his death shall bring. Lamech means to the poor and lowly. Noah means rest/comfort. So, we get: Man appointed, subject to death, sorrowful, from the presence of God, one comes down, dedicated, and His death shall bring to the poor and lowly rest/comfort. Interesting.
