A message from the Synod of the Heartland Youth Ministry office:
Given the current circumstances in our communities and the restrictions given by the state of Colorado, it is with great sadness that we have made the difficult decision to postpone Rocky Mountain High 2020 and reschedule the event for the summer of 2021.
The decision was made after working through many scenarios, consulting with YMCA Camp leadership, state authorities, and church leaders, and waiting for distancing restrictions to potentially change. We are aware that this outcome is hard for everyone involved, but by making this decision we hope to secure the safety of our youth and their families.
Your needs and concerns are of the utmost importance to us. Regarding registration payments, full refunds will be sent out to the churches in the first two weeks of June.
Though Rocky Mountain High 2020 is postponed, we are already working diligently toward keeping the tradition of Rocky Mountain High strong as well as our commitment to provide multiple opportunities for the youth of our churches.
Rocky Mountain High will be rescheduled for July 31 - August 4, 2021. However, due to our planning circumstances, there will be a few differences compared to previous plans. At this point, we do not know how large Rocky 2021 can be, but we do know all of these decisions are being made with the participants in mind.
We understand that the loss of Rocky Mountain High 2020 has hit this year’s seniors the hardest. There is, however, a dynamic new event being planned for next summer that will be available to the class of 2020. You’ll hear more about this exciting opportunity in the next few months.
On behalf of the Synod of the Heartland office, the Rocky Mountain High Organizing Team, the Synod Youth Team, and everyone else who has worked toward this significant event for the youth, we sincerely hope you will be able to join us in 2021 for the opportunities ahead.
Nancy is taking FRC Kids @ Home on the road as she goes "Out and About with God's Word". Make sure to watch the videos on Sundays at 10:45 on YouTube or our Facebook Page. Our story for this week is about Elijah and the prophets of Baal.
We have also sent out activity pages to younger students. If you would like additional copies of the activities, you can pick up a copy on the Welcome Desk at church.
If you are in need of Pastoral Care during this time where we cannot meet for worship, please contact Pastor Mark or one of the elders. Pastor Mark would be happy to talk with you on the phone, via video chat, or visit face to face outside your home.
A few weeks ago we updated you to let you know that RYM for our Jr. High students had been delayed until August. At that time very few details were available but now we have some important information to pass on.
We will depart from the church on Saturday, August 8 and travel to Bixby, OK to spend the night. RYM will start on Sunday, August 9 and go through August 12. We do not know the daily schedule yet and so we do not have exact details on our return trip.
The big news is that because the camp has been shortened by one day the cost remaining for students after the $100 deposit that has already been paid is $70 instead of $100.
We will contact everyone to ensure they have fully registered in the next week or two. If you have any questions please call, text, or email Pastor Mark.
