- The Faith ChapterOne of the best chapters in the bible that references all the examples of faith in the BibleHebrews 11:1–40King James VersionNow faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
- The Love ChapterThis is the chapter that describes love. It shows how love should be using the word "charity" in translation of agape. It shows how it is giving and not taking.1 Corinthians 13:1–13King James VersionThough I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. Ephesians 6:10 (KJV 1611)
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Satan is a powerful foe, so Paul exhorts believers to "be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might" The word power is kratei (power that overcomes resistance). We as believers can and must rely on the inherent strength (might - ischyos) of God to overcome the inevitable resistance that will come with being a believer.
I like the way Adrian Rogers put’s it:
"Satan had his back crushed, back broken, at Calvary. And soon his head is going to be crushed, when Jesus comes again. First John 4:4, Jesus said, 'Ye are of God little children and have overcome them, because greater is he that is in you than he that’s in the world.' Satan hopes that you never learn that he is a defeated foe."
But, we cannot stand on our own! Our flesh is weak!
In Matt 14:38 Jesus says, "Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak."
We can only overcome through Christ's strength! Be in the Word daily and pray without ceasing!
