“Encouraging Community ”

2 Kings 5:1–14; Psalm 30:1–12; Galatians 6:1-10

When did you most need a community of people? Did you receive it?

Today, we are going to look at a few different scriptures that all have a community working together in the story. If you haven’t already figured it out, we will be talking about being in a community of believers today.

We want to see today how God is faithful in spreading the good news through the community of believers. Then we will discuss One of the best ways to experience the faithfulness of God is by participating in a community.

2 Kings 5:1-14ESV

God, through the community of his people, used this little girl to share with Naaman the good news of God’s power (v. 2).

True to his reputation, Dan was able to fix Arlene’s washer. We are in this community together and can point to each so we can help.

Psalm 30:1-12ESV

Part of the joy of being in a community is not only the mutual strength and encouragement one can find but also the joy of corporate worship.

Gramps mentioned that when they watch online they usually don’t sing along. But in person, they sing with us and it is a powerful time.

Galatians 6:2 & 10ESV

As Paul closes his letter to the church in Galatia, he emphasizes the need for a strong community that looks after each other.

Helping carry each other’s burdens is something that seems to be well modeled at our church.

When we are in a community, we are reminded of God’s faithful love for us. We can be like tools at his disposal, ready to help others simply by being available.

What does Jesus want? Continue to be in a community of believers and encourage one another.

Why am I supposed to be in a community of believers? Experience God’s faithfulness.

One of the best ways to experience the faithfulness of God is by participating in a community.

How am I supposed to be in a community of believers? Keep loving, Keep encouraging, keep helping.

We looked at three passages that had pieces of being in a community of believers. We looked at Naaman being touched by a servant girl who knew about a prophet. We saw David encourage us to worship together and experience the joy of worship. Lastly, we saw Paul tell us to bear each other’s burdens and encourage each other. Being in a community is how we experience God’s faithfulness.

We are to continue to be in a community of believers and encourage each other. When we do, we experience Jesus’s faithfulness. We are to keep loving, keep encouraging, and keep helping. What encouragement have you received? What burden can you help carry? What burden do you need help carrying? Let’s experience Jesus’s faithfulness. Let’s pray.
