WE APPROACH GOD

Welcome

Opening Hymn - We Gather Together (R540)

Call to Worship

Praise the LORD!

Praise the LORD from the heavens;

Praise Him in the heights!

Praise Him, all His angels;

Praise Him, all His host!

Praise Him, sun and moon;

Praise Him, all you shining stars!

Praise Him, you highest heavens,

And you waters above the heavens!

Let them praise the name of the LORD,

For He commanded and they were created.

He established them for ever and ever;

He fixed their bounds, which cannot be passed.

Praise the LORD from the earth,

You sea monsters and all deeps,

Fire and hail, snow and frost,

Stormy wind fulfilling his command!

Mountains and all hills,

Fruit trees and all cedars!

Wild animals and all cattle,

Creeping things and flying birds!

Kings of the earth and all peoples,

Princes and all rulers of the earth!

Young men and women alike,

Old and young together!

Let them praise the name of the LORD,

For his name along is exalted;

His glory is above earth and heaven.

He has raised up a horn for his people,

Praise for all His faithful,

For the body of Christ.

Praise the LORD!

Praise Hymn - All Creatures of Our God and King (R43)

Prayer of Confession

Living God, you have created all that is around us.

You have created the plants in the fields,

The animals in barns,

Our loving friends and family around us.

Yet there are times when we do not honor your creation.

We have harmed the land by taking too much.

We have been greedy with the livestock given to us.

We have been unkind, disrespectful, and caused pain to our family.

Forgive us, Creator God,

And reconcile us to your creation.

Forgive us, O God of love,

And reconcile us to yourself and to one another.

Teach us, O Creator God of love,

That the earth and all its fullness are yours,

The world and all who dwell in it.

Call us yet again to safeguard the gift of life,

Through Christ, our Shepherd, our Risen Lord. Amen.

Assurance of Forgiveness

Our world, broken and scarred, still belongs to God.

He holds it together and gives us hope.

God the Creator brings us new life,

Forgives us and redeems us.

We take hold of this forgiveness

And live our lives in the Spirit of Jesus. Amen.
