No hay duda de esto -- hay suficientes noticias en los medios para poner ansioso a cualquiera. Cuando nos sintamos ansiosos o preocupados podemos recordar estas dos cosas:

1. Pasaremos por momentos difíciles en nuestras vidas. Jesús prometio que esto pasaría (Juan 16:33). Si te enfermas puedes estar seguro que no eres el único al que le pasa. Dios no esta “enojado” contigo y probablemente otros se sienten igual que tu.
2. Dios nos ha dado un regalo maravilloso llamado “oración” para que podamos llevarle a El nuestras preocupaciones y ansiedad para así poder experimentar Su paz.

Tu puedes orar por estas 6 cosas cuando te sientas preocupado por el coronavirus:

1. Gracias Jesús por estar atento a mi situación. Tal vez te preguntas si a Jesús realmente le importa tu situación. La Biblia lo llama “el Dios que ve” (Genesis 16:13). Y este “Dios que ve” nos llama a: “Echar toda nuestra ansiedad sobre El porque el tiene cuidado de Ti” (1 Pedro 5:7). En medio de cualquier tormenta, enfermedad, temor, preocupación, tu no estas solo. 
2. Jesús, dame ojos que vean lo eterno. “Porque esta leve tribulación momentánea produce en nosotros un cada vez mas excelente y eterno peso de gloria...” (2 Corintios 4:17) Al ver mas allá de este momento, aunque resulte difícil, podremos ver que hay un propósito detrás de cada tribulación. Dios es capaz de tomar cada dificultad que experimentamos y convertirla en una lección (para nosotros u otros), si ponemos nuestra mirada en El. Las decisiones que tomamos y las palabras que usamos para hablarnos a nosotros mismos y a los demás pueden tener un impacto en lo eterno.
3. Jesús, enséñame Tu verdad. Los tiempos de dificultad nunca serán divertidos, sin embargo, sabemos que pueden llegar a ser buenos tiempos porque Dios los usa para desarrollar nuestro carácter para así poder ser mas como Jesús. Santiago 1:2-3 nos anima a “tener por sumo gozo cuando nos encontremos en diversas pruebas, sabiendo que la prueba de nuestra fe produce paciencia.”
4. Jesús, ayúdame a vivir por fe y no por miedo. “Sin fe es imposible agradar a Dios.” (Hebreos 11:6) El caminar en fe no quiere decir que nunca vamos a experimentar miedo. Sino que, aun cuando sintamos miedo nosotros podemos actuar en base a lo que sabemos que es verdadero. Nosotros sabemos que Jesús nos ama y que el es el que tiene el sumo control cuando nuestras vidas se encuentran en caos.
5. Jesús, te pido que sanes a aquellos que están enfermos. “Al ponerse el sol, todos los que tenían enfermos de diversas enfermedades los traían a el; y el, poniendo las manos sobre cada uno de ellos, los sanaba.” (Lucas 4:40) Tu no tienes que adentrarte tanto a los evangelios para darte cuenta de que Jesús sanaba a las personas. A pesar de que el no siempre decidía sanar, nosotros creemos que el sigue siendo nuestro Sanador. A veces, el obra por medio de un doctor, y otras veces por medio de un milagro. Por medio de nuestra oración podemos traer a personas a Jesús para que el los sane. 
6. Jesús, te pedimos que le des sabiduría a nuestros doctores, enfermeros y líderes para que puedan responder adecuadamente y encuentren una cura. Protégelos al atender a los enfermos. Dios ya les ha dado sabiduría al ayudarnos a prevenir el contagio de enfermedades delicadas como lo es el coronavirus...Así que, te aconsejo que confíes en Dios por medio de la oración y que:

• Te laves las manos. Dicen que necesitas cantar la canción de “Feliz Cumpleaños” dos veces al lavarte las manos --- pero te recomiendo que mejor lo hagas con tu canto favorito de alabanza. De esta manera tendrás presente a Dios y Su verdad. Si no te encuentras en un lugar donde haya jabón y agua, utiliza un antibacterial a base de alcohol.
• Limpia y desinfecta superficies y objetos que tocas frecuentemente.
• Quédate en casa si te encuentras enfermo.
• Evita el contacto con personas que están enfermas.
• No te toques la cara.
• Mantente atento a las noticias nacionales y locales -- y oremos juntos para que esto pase lo mas pronto posible, también oremos por los enfermos y para que Dios nos ayude a ver todo desde Su perspectiva eterna.

No doubt about it – there’s enough in the headlines to make anyone feel anxious. When we feel anxious or worried, here are two things to remember:

1    Hard things will come into our lives. Jesus promised it would happen (John 16:33). If you get sick, you can rest assured that you’re not being singled out, God is not “angry” with you and you’re probably not the only one feeling this way.

2    God has given us this amazing thing called prayer as a means of bringing our concerns & anxiety to Him, and ultimately experiencing His peace.

Here are 6 things to pray when you’re worried about coronavirus:

1. Jesus, thank you for caring about my situation. Maybe you’ve wondered if Jesus cares about your situation. The Bible calls Him “the God who Sees” (Genesis 16:13). And this “God who Sees” instructs to: “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for You” (1 Peter 5:7).

In the middle of any storm, sickness, fear or concern, you are not alone!

2. Jesus, give me eyes to see the eternal. “For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison...” (2 Corinthians 4:17) Beyond this moment, while it may be difficult to see, there is a purpose in every trial. God is able to take every hard thing we face and turn it into a lesson (for us or others), as we keep our eyes on Him. The choices we make and the words we speak to ourselves and each other can have an eternal significance.

3. Jesus, teach me Your truth. Hard times are never fun times, but they can be good times because we know that through them God is developing our character and helping us become more like Jesus. James 1:2-3 encourages us to: “Count it all joy… when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.”

4. Jesus, help me live by faith, not by fear. “Without faith it is impossible to please Him.” (Hebrews 11:6) Walking in faith does not mean we won’t experience fear. It does mean we take meaningful action on what we know to be true – even when we are fearful. We know that Jesus loves us and ultimately is in control when life feels crazy.

5. Jesus, please heal those who are sick. “Now when the sun was setting, all those who had any who were sick with various diseases brought them to him, and he laid his hands on every one of them and healed them.” (Luke 4:40) You don’t have to look too far in the Gospels to see Jesus healing people. While He does not always choose to heal, we believe that He is still our Healer today. Sometimes he works through a doctor, and sometimes through a miracle. We can bring people to Jesus for healing when we pray for them.

6. Jesus, please give our doctors, nurses & leaders wisdom to respond well and to find a cure. Keep them well as they care for the sick.

God has given them wisdom already in helping us prevent the spread of serious diseases like coronavirus… So, we recommend you trust God through prayer and:

•    Wash your hands. They say to sing “Happy Birthday” twice – but try singing your favorite worship song instead. It’ll be a great reminder of the truth of who God is. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

•    Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces and objects.

•    Stay home when you’re sick.

•    Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

•    Don’t touch your face.

•    Keep an eye on current national & local news – and let’s pray together that this will soon pass, for those who are sick, and that God will give us His perspective on others and eternity.

El compromiso es algo difícil de encontrar en la sociedad actual. Esto se puede aplicar a diferentes áreas de nuestra vida diaria. Las parejas actuales deciden vivir juntas para evitar el compromiso. Dios ama el compromiso. Por esta razón el incluyó en la Biblia la conversación que tuvo Ruth con su suegra: (Ruth 1:16-17)”16 Respondió Rut: No me ruegues que te deje, y me aparte de ti; porque a dondequiera que tú fueres, iré yo, y dondequiera que vivieres, viviré. Tu pueblo será mi pueblo, y tu Dios mi Dios. 17 Donde tú murieres, moriré yo, y allí seré sepultada; así me haga Jehová, y aun me añada, que sólo la muerte hará separación entre nosotras dos.” Este es el tipo de compromiso que Dios admira - un compromiso incondicional.

Un día, un joven universitario entró a un estudio fotográfico con una fotografía enmarcada de su novia. El quería duplicar esa fotografía. El duplicar una fotografía requería quitarla del marco. Al hacer esto, el dueño del estudio notó que había un mensaje atrás de la fotografía: “Querido Tom, te amo con todo mi corazón. Te amo más y más cada día. Te amaré por siempre y para siempre. Soy tuya por la eternidad.” Fue firmada por “Helen” y tenia un posdata P.D.: “Si se llegara a terminar nuestra relación, quiero esta foto de vuelta.” Helen obviamente no estaba completamente comprometida con esa relación. 

Una noche, un policía llamó a una mamá soltera para decirle que fuera a recoger a su hija, que estaba detenida en la estación de policía, por haber manejado bajo la influencia de alcohol. La mamá y la hija no conversaron sobre el tema hasta la siguiente tarde, cuando la mamá decidió romper la tensión entre ellas al darle un pequeño regalo. La hija abrió el regalo y se encontró con una pequeña roca. La hija se molestó y dijo: ¿Para qué es esto? Su mamá le dijo: “Ve lo que hay abajo.” Ella tomó la roca y al leerla se le llenaron los ojos de lágrimas. Ella se levantó, caminó hacia donde estaba su mamá y le dio un abrazo fuerte. La mama había escrito esto: “Esta roca ha existido por mas de dos millones de años - esta es la cantidad de tiempo que me va a tomar a mi el poder rendirme contigo.” Esto es un verdadero compromiso.

Durante estos tiempos en donde nos encontramos en medio de una crisis necesitamos estar comprometidos con nuestra familia, nuestra iglesia y sobretodo con nuestro Señor.

Commitment is hard thing to come by in today’s society.  We could apply this to so many areas of our daily life. Couples today just live together in order to avoid commitment. God loves commitment. That’s why He included Ruth’s statement to her mother-in-law in your Bible: (Ruth 1:16-19) "Do not urge me to leave you or turn back from following you; for where you go, I will go, and where you lodge, I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God. Where you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. Thus may the LORD do to me, and worse, if anything but death parts you and me." That’s the kind of commitment God admires - unqualified commitment.  

 A college man walked into a photography studio with a framed picture of his girlfriend. He wanted the picture duplicated. 

This involved removing it from the frame. In doing this, the studio owner noticed the inscription on the back of the photograph: “My dearest Tom, I love you with all my heart. I love you more and more each day. I will love you forever and ever. I am yours for all eternity.” It was signed "Helen,” and it contained a P.S.: “If we ever break up, I want this picture back.” Helen was obviously not completely committed to that relationship. 

  One night the police called to ask single mom to get her daughter from the police station, because she’d been arrested for drunk driving. Not a word was spoken between them until the next afternoon, when mom broke the tension by giving her daughter a little gift-wrapped box. She opened it and found a small rock. Rolling her eyes she said, "What’s this for?" Her mom said, "Look underneath." She took the rock and as she read it, her eyes filled with tears. She got up, walked across the room and gave her mom a big hug. You see, on the card mom had written, This rock is more than two million years old - and that’s how long it will take before I give up on you!  Now that is commitment.  

  During times like this when we are in the middle of a crisis we need to be committed to our families, our church and especially to our Lord.

Ayer, un amigo mío publicó este encabezado en Facebook. Es una realidad. No se puede cancelar la Iglesia, pero se puede cancelar un servicio. Eso es lo que hemos hecho por un tiempo en la Primera Iglesia Bautista. Hemos cancelado algunos servicios, pero Jesús todavía reina sobre su iglesia donde sea que esté.

En realidad, durante algunas semanas vamos a existir como la Iglesia en su forma original. ¿Recuerdas lo que nos dice el libro de los Hechos en el capítulo dos? " 44 Y todos los que creían se reunían y tenían todas las cosas en común. 45 Vendían sus posesiones y bienes, y los repartían a todos, a cada uno según tenía necesidad. 46 Ellos perseveraban unánimes en el templo día tras día, y partiendo el pan casa por casa, participaban de la comida con alegría y con sencillez de corazón, 47 alabando a Dios y teniendo el favor de todo el pueblo. Y el Señor añadía diariamente a su número[j] los que habían de ser salvos.".

Comenzaron su vida como Iglesia en el templo y en sus hogares. No paso mucho tiempo antes de que fueran expulsados del templo por la persecución, pero ese no fue motivo para cancelar la iglesia. Continuaron reuniéndose en hogares durante los siguientes 300 años y el Evangelio se extendió por todo el mundo. Hoy las casas se utilizan en todo el mundo como lugares de culto.

Vi esta semana como la Iglesia Bautista Saddleback en California tiene una asistencia promedio los domingos de 30,000 personas. También tiene 8,000 grupos de casas que se reúnen durante la semana con una asistencia promedio de 40,000 personas. Hay poder en compartir tu casa para Cristo.

Entonces, oro para que su hogar no sea un refugio del mundo por estos días, sino una casa de adoración. Puede reunir a su familia para momentos de oración, lectura/discusión de la Biblia y canto. Puede invitar a un pequeño número de vecinos a unirse con usted. O bien, puede preguntar a sus vecinos cómo puede orar por ellos y hacerles saber que por la noche estará orando por ellos. Según el Antiguo Testamento, la instrucción de fe debía comenzar en el hogar. ¿Dios nos ha traído de vuelta a eso?

Hemos cancelado algunos servicios, pero la Iglesia no ha sido cancelada.

Yesterday a friend of mine posted this heading on Facebook. It is a reality. You can’t cancel church, but you can cancel a service. That is what we have done for a time at First Baptist Church. We have canceled a few services, but Jesus still reigns over His church wherever it is.

Actually, for a few weeks we are existing just like the Church in its original form. You remember what the book of Acts tells us in chapter two? “44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common. 45 And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.”

They began their Church life meeting in the temple and in their homes. It wouldn’t be long before they were routed out of the temple by persecution, but that didn’t cancel church. They went on meeting in homes for the next 300 years and the Gospel spread across the world. Today houses are used around the world as places of worship.

I saw this week where Saddleback Baptist Church in California has an average attendance on Sunday of 30,000. It also has 8,000 house groups that meet during the week with an average attendance of 40,000. There is power in sharing your house for Christ.

So, I pray that your home will not be a refuge from the world for these days, but a house of worship. You may gather your family for times of prayer, Bible reading/discussion and singing. You might invite a small number of neighbors to join you. Or, you could just ask your neighbors how you could pray for them and let them know that at night you will be praying for them. According to the Old Testament, faith instruction was to begin in the home. Has God brought us back to that?

We have canceled some services, but Church has not been canceled.

Let the Church be the Church,
