First Church Alert
5+ Things to Know this Week @ First Church
SPECIAL: The installation of our new fan coil units begins on Monday, August 1 and will continue through August 12. The installations will take place in the Education Building only, so worship in the sanctuary will be unaffected. All other ministries in the building will take a break. Throughout the two weeks and on Sunday, August 7, please access the building through the 20th Street or upper parking lot doors. Thank you!
1 Go Go Jonah TONIGHT!
Our kids perform “Go Go Jonah” tonight at 7 p.m. Please join us in the sanctuary, and stay for ice cream afterwards. If you can’t make it, tune into our YouTube Channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXTs_9jRVMSXuzpfEIJKknA) at 7 p.m. to watch the livestream.
2 Revival: Praying for our communities
Our Revival series continues this Sunday as we find out how Nehemiah sparked the renewal of Jerusalem through prayer (Nehemiah 1:4-11). We have asked members of our La Junta City Council to let us know how we can be praying for them. If you know city officials or employees, please be sure to invite them to share in our worship as we pray for them. Also, our worship will begin with members of the cast of “Go Go Jonah” teaching us the songs they learned this week!
3 Picnic & pool party
Our annual picnic and pool party is this Sunday July 31st. We will meet at Potter Park at 5:30 for the picnic. The church will provide drinks. Please bring a main dish, side dish, or dessert to share. We’ll swim as soon as the gates open for us at 6:30 p.m.
4 Church Health Assessment: Thank you!
Thank you so much to the 35 of you who took the time to complete our Church Health Assessment. The elders will be meeting in the coming weeks with a consultant provided by our denominational offices, and then we’ll be coming to you to discuss the results.
5 A Christian Conversation on Abortion: August 7
Our nation has long been divided on the question of abortion, and the reversal of Roe v. Wade has ignited those divisions. How are we to respond as followers of Jesus? Join us for a conversation on Sunday, August 7, at 1:30 p.m. All are welcome, so please feel free to invite family and friends for this time of dialogue and prayer.
