First Church Alert
5+ Things to Know this Week @ First Church
1 “Fear Not”: Advent continues
Our Advent worship series, “Fear Not,” continues. We move from Isaiah to Joseph, who is faced with fear for his family in Matthew 1:18-25. The angel Gabriel tells him, “Fear not,” but how is that possible? Hayden Bickel and Savanna Krueger will light the second Advent candle.
2 Angel Tree
We have a few ornaments left on the tree. Call the Church Office to claim yours, or stop by the tree on Sunday morning.
3 “Escape to Bethlehem”
Invite family and friends to our annual Christmas pageant, “Escape to Bethlehem,” happening on Sunday, December 18, in worship at 10 a.m. Our pageant will be followed by our Christmas luncheon. Please contact Kenny Root at 719-469-2742 if you’d like to donate a turkey.
4 “I Heard the Bells” rehearsals begin this week
Rehearsals begin this Thursday, December 1, and continue December 8, 15, and 22, at 6:30 p.m., for our Christmas Eve service, “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day.” Our songs will include an arrangement of “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day” along with bell accompaniment. Please consider making the time in Advent for this musical offering.
5 Devotional debacle
Our hope this year had been to offer an Advent devotional that would be appropriate for all ages and households. Unfortunately, we discovered too late that the devotionals we ordered were tailored specifically to families with young children. Our apologies. More devotionals are available now on the table outside the sanctuary. Please take one!
6 Celebrating Our Staff
Join us on Sunday morning in worship as we honor our paid and volunteer church staff. Thank you to Dean, Gwynn, Aricka, Steve, David, Jeanne, Kristin, Patti, Kathy, Dottie, Marilyn, Chris, Elisabeth, and Angel. God blesses us through your ministries!
