First Church Alert
5 Things to Know this Week @ First Church
1 “Escape to Bethlehem”
Invite family and friends to our annual Christmas pageant, “Escape to Bethlehem,” happening on Sunday, December 18, in worship at 10 a.m. Our pageant will be followed by our Christmas luncheon. Please contact Kenny Root at 719-469-2742 if you’d like to donate a turkey.
2 Angel Tree Gifts Due
Angel Tree gifts are due back at the church this Sunday, December 11. Contact Melanie or Lisa if you need them to come pick yours up.
3 “I Heard the Bells” rehearsals
Rehearsals continue Thursdays, December 8, 15, and 22, at 6:30 p.m., for our Christmas Eve service, “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day,” and it’s not too late to join your voice. Please consider making the time in Advent for this musical offering.
4 “Fear Not”: Advent continues
Our Advent worship series, “Fear Not,” continues. We’ve heard from Isaiah and Joseph, so this week we meet Zechariah, when his plans for his future fall apart. Like before, the angel Gabriel tells him, “Fear not.” The Mackey family will light the third Advent candle.
5 MJ & Chris’ open house
Pastor MJ and hubby Chris invite you Sunday afternoon, 2-4 p.m., to join them in their home at 912 Santa Fe in LJ for their annual open house. Drink a cup of cranberry punch or coffee, munch on a cookie, and relax for a few minutes before going back to your holiday busy-ness.
