First Church Alert
5 Things to Know this Week @ First Church
1 “Escape to Bethlehem” this Sunday!
Invite family and friends to our annual Christmas pageant, “Escape to Bethlehem,” happening this Sunday, December 18, in worship at 10 a.m. Our pageant will be followed by our Christmas luncheon. Our Christmas Luncheon is potluck style. The fellowship team is providing turkey, mashed potatoes, dressing, rolls and gravy. Please bring a side dish or dessert.
2 Deacons Fund could use some help
Our Deacons Fund assists households in the community in need of emergency financial assistance. Our fund is currently empty, so we’re transferring some funds from the operating account. We know you’re being asked for a lot this time of year, but please consider even a small gift to assist refilling the account with us. Every little bit is appreciated.
3 Christmas Joy Offering & Adult Mission Trip
Our Christmas Joy Offering supports the construction of water cisterns in and around Xpujil in the Mexican state of Campeche. Todd Luke of the Outreach Foundation has invited us to send a work team this summer. If you are interested, please contact Pastor MJ. We have the option of work trips beginning July 24 or July 31, so please consider which week would work best for your schedule.
4 “I Heard the Bells” rehearsals
Our final rehearsal for our Christmas Eve service, “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day,” happens on Thursday, December 22. There will be no rehearsal this week (12/15) so Dean can perform with the Madrigal Singers in Rocky Ford. We are also still looking for 2 male readers (any age, no singing required), so contact Marilyn Chambers if you’re available.
5 Special shout out
A special shout out to Greg Holt for shoveling sidewalks and Hayden Bickel for plowing the parking lot after Tuesday’s big snow. Thank you!
