Genesis 2:15-17ESV

For the Beauty of the Earth

1 For the beauty of the earth,

For the glory of the skies,

For the love which from our birth

Over and around us lies:

Refrain:

Lord of all, to Thee we raise

This our hymn of grateful praise.

2 For the wonder of each hour

Of the day and of the night,

Hill and vale and tree and flower,

Sun and moon and stars of light: [Refrain]

3 For the joy of human love,

Brother, sister, parent, child,

Friends on earth and friends above;

For all gentle thoughts and mild: [Refrain]

4 For Thy Church that evermore

Lifteth holy hands above,

Offering up on every shore

Her pure sacrifice of love: [Refrain]

5 For Thyself, best gift divine,

To our race so freely given;

For that great, great love of Thine,

Peace on earth and joy in heaven: [Refrain]

Come, Ye Thankful People, Come

1 Come, ye thankful people, come;

Raise the song of harvest home;

all is safely gathered in

Ere the winter storms begin.

God, our Maker, doth provide

for our wants to be supplied.

Come to God's own temple, come;

Raise the song of harvest home.

2 All the world is God's own field,

Fruit unto His praise to yield;

Wheat and tares together sown,

Unto joy or sorrow grown.

First the blade, and then the ear,

Then the full corn shall appear;

Lord of harvest, grant that we

Wholesome grain and pure may be.

3 For the Lord our God shall come,

And shall take His harvest home;

From His field shall in that day

All offenses purge away.

Give His angels charge at last

In the fire the tares to cast,

But the fruitful ears to store

In His garner evermore.

4 Even so, Lord, quickly come

To Thy final harvest-home;

Gather Thou Thy people in,

Free from sorrow, free from sin.

There forever purified

In Thy presence to abide.

Come, with all Thine angels come;

Raise the glorious harvest home.

The King of Love My Shepherd Is

1 The King of Love my Shepherd is,

Whose goodness faileth never;

I nothing lack if I am His

And He is mine forever.

2 Where streams of living water flow,

My ransomed soul He leadeth,

And where the verdant pastures grow,

With food celestial feedeth.

3 Perverse and foolish oft I strayed,

But yet in love He sought me,

And on His shoulder gently laid,

And home rejoicing bro't me.

4 In death's dark vale I fear no ill

With Thee, dear Lord, beside me;

Thy rod and staff my comfort still,

Thy cross before to guide me.

5 And so thro' all the length of days

Thy goodness faileth never:

Good Shepherd, may I sing Thy praise

Within Thy house forever.

Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing

1 Come, Thou Fount of every blessing,

Tune my heart to sing Thy grace;

Streams of mercy, never ceasing,

Call for songs of loudest praise.

Teach me some melodious sonnet,

Sung by flaming tongues above,

Praise His name--I'm fixed upon it--

Name of God's redeeming love.

2 Hitherto Thy love has blest me;

Thou hast bro't me to this place;

And I know Thy hand will bring me

Safely home by Thy good grace.

Jesus sought me when a stranger,

Wand'ring from the fold of God;

He, to rescue me from danger,

Bo't me with His precious blood.

3 O to grace how great a debtor

Daily I'm constrained to be!

Let Thy goodness, like a fetter,

Bind my wand'ring heart to Thee.

Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,

Prone to leave the God I love;

Here's my heart, O take and seal it;

Seal it for Thy courts above.

O Lord,

We are shells of dust

           made anew by Your unseen power of grace;

           chosen by You from eternity,

                   given to Christ and born again

When we should submit to Your providence, we follow our wills,

When we should study, love, honor, and trust You, we serve ourselves;

We find fault and correct Your laws to suit ourselves.

Convince us that we cannot be our own god or make ourselves happy,

           nor be our own saviors to restore our joy,

           nor be our own spirits to teach, guide, and rule us.

Help us see that grace does this by providential affliction,

           when riches are our idols You fly them away,

           when pleasure is our all You turn it to bitterness.

Take away our roving eyes, curious ears, greedy appetites, and lustful hearts;

Then take us to the cross and leave us there. Amen

God's Goodness
