Proverbs 1:20ESV

#214 He Has Made Me Glad

1 I will enter His gates with thanksgiving in my heart;

I will enter His courts with praise.

I will say, “This is the day that the Lord has made!”

I will rejoice for He has made me glad.

Refrain:

He has made me glad,

He has made me glad,

I will rejoice for He has made me glad.

He has made me glad,

He has made me glad,

I will rejoice for He has made me glad.

2 I will enter His gates with thanksgiving in my heart;

I will enter His courts with praise.

I will say, “This is the day that the Lord has made!”

I will rejoice for He has made me glad. [Refrain]

#564 Just a Closer Walk with Thee

1 I am weak but Thou art strong;

Jesus, keep me from all wrong.

I'll be satisfied as long

As I walk, let me walk close to Thee.

Refrain:

Just a closer walk with Thee,

Grant it, Jesus, is my plea.

Daily walking close to Thee,

Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

2 Thro' this world of toil and snares,

If I falter, Lord, who cares?

Who with me my burden shares?

None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee. [Refrain]

3 When my feeble life is o'er,

Time for me will be no more;

Guide me gently, safely o'er

To Thy kingdom shore, to Thy shore. [Refrain]

#316 O Sacred Head, Now Wounded

1 O sacred Head, now wounded,

With grief and shame weighed down;

Now scornfully surrounded

With thorns, Thine only crown.

How pale Thou art with anguish,

With sore abuse and scorn;

How does that visage languish

Which once was bright as morn!

2 What Thou, my Lord, hast suffered

Was all for sinners' gain:

Mine, mine was the transgression,

But Thine the deadly pain.

Lo, here I fall, my Savior;

'Tis I deserve Thy place.

Look on me with Thy favor;

Assist me with Thy grace.

3 What language shall I borrow

To thank Thee, dearest Friend,

For this, Thy dying sorrow,

Thy pity without end?

O make me Thine forever;

And, should I fainting be,

Lord, let me never, never

Outlive my love to Thee.

#17 Our Great Savior

1 Jesus! What a Friend for sinners!

Jesus! Lover of my soul;

Friends may fail me, foes assail me,

He, my Savior, makes me whole.

Refrain

Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Hallelujah! What a Friend!

Saving, helping, keeping, loving,

He is with me to the end.

2 Jesus! What a Strength in weakness!

Let me hide myself in Him;

Tempted, tried, and sometimes failing,

He, my Strength, my victory wins. [Refrain]

3 Jesus! What a Help in sorrow!

While the billows o'er me roll,

Even when my heart is breaking,

He, my Comfort, helps my soul. [Refrain]

4 Jesus! What a Guide and Keeper!

While the tempest still is high,

Storms about me, night o'er takes me,

He, my Pilot, hears my cry. [Refrain]

5 Jesus! I do now receive Him,

More than all in Him I find;

He hath granted me forgiveness,

I am His, and He is mine. [Refrain]

O Most High, We are nothing compared to You. We do not possess the rank and power of angels but you have made us what we are and placed us where we are. We have sinned. Our heads are deceitful and wicked and our minds are enemies to your law. Yet, in our lostness You have given us the help of the Mighty One. He is our mediator. His blood is our peace. His righteousness is our strength. Whose Spirit is our power and heaven is our heritage. Give us more strength of grace to subdue our evil natures. Support us under the trials of life. Give us the ability to have a conscience void of offence before You and before men. Give us character that will not fail. Amen.

Portion of Chalcedonian Creed

We, then, following the holy fathers, all with one consent,

teach men to confess one and the same Son, our Lord Jesus Christ,

the same perfect in Godhead and also perfect in manhood;

Truly God and truly man, of a reasonable soul and body;

consubstantial with the Father according to the Godhead,

and consubstantial with us according to the Manhood;

in all things like unto us, without sin;

Begotten before all ages of the Father according to the Godhead,

and in these latter days, for us and for our salvation,

born of the Virgin Mary, the God-bearer, according to the Manhood;

One and the same Christ, Son, Lord, Only-begotten,

to be acknowledged in two natures,

inconfusedly, unchangeably, indivisibly, and inseparably.
