Call to Confession

Prayer of Confession (Unison)

Merciful God, we confess that our words and actions do not always line up. We are quick to confess our faith, but slow to live it. We sing praise to your name, but we pass by orphans and widows on the other side of the street. Change us, O God. By your grace, transform us with compassion and generosity. Empower us by your Spirit that we might be doers of your word and not hearers only. All this we pray in the name of Jesus the Christ, Amen.

Prayer of Thanksgiving

The Lord be with you. And also with you.

Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

It is right to give our thanks and praise.

One:    Blessed are you, the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, just as you chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless before you in love. You destined us for adoption as your children through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of your will, to the praise of your glorious grace that you freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our sins, according to the riches of your grace that you lavished on us. Therefore we praise you, joining the song of the universal church and the heavenly choir, singing:

All:       Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, God of power and might. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Blessed is the one who comes in the Name of the Lord.

One:    Great is the mystery of the faith:

All:      Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.

One:    Gracious God, pour out your Holy Spirit upon us and upon these your gifts of bread and the cup, that the bread we break and the cup we drink may be the communion of the body and blood of Christ. Amen.
