Welcome and Announcements

Opening Prayer & Gathering                                                          Light for Our Darkness

Light for our darkness, faith for unbelief, health for mind and body when they languish;

Christ, be among us, listen to our prayer, lift your weary people from their anguish.

Call to Worship

In your wisdom, O God, you call us here to worship you.

We gather, alive to the Word of God.

You call us to be fully alive with your life abundant, ready to listen and respond with heart, soul, strength, and mind.

We listen, alive to the Word of God.

You call us to be always watchful for your Word of wisdom, sometimes startling and unexpected, sometimes still and quiet, but always dwelling among us.

We watch, and we wait, for the Word of God.

Opening Hymn #420 God of Grace and God of Glory

(Please remain standing through the Sung Response)

Call to Confession

Prayer of Confession

Holy and merciful God, in your presence we confess our sinfulness, our shortcomings, and our offenses against you. You alone know how often we have wandered from your ways, wasted your gifts, and forgotten your love. Have mercy on us, O Lord, for we regret all we have done to displease you, and all the ways we have sought to justify ourselves. Forgive our sins. Help us to live in your light and walk in your ways, for the sake of Jesus Christ, our Savior. Amen.

Hymn #520 Here, O Our Lord, We See You Face to Face [to MORECAMBE]

Scripture Reading: Jeremiah 1:4-10

Anthem                         Be Not Afraid                   Craig Courtney

Be not afraid: for I have redeemed you;

Be not afraid: I have called you by name.

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;

when you pass through floods, they will not sweep o'er you;

when you walk through the fire, you will not be consumed;

you are mine, you are precious in my sight. [repeat]

My love for you is everlasting, my love for you shall have no end.

When you pass...[repeat last 4 lines above]

You are precious in my sight.

Scripture Reading: Luke 4:21-30

Sermon: LOOK AND BE AMAZED: When Jesus Shows Up (Pt. 2)

Sacrament of Communion

The table is open to all who seek to follow Jesus Christ in faith, repentance, and love.

The Lord be with you. And also with you.

Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

It is right to give our thanks and praise.

Blessed are you, O Lord our God: On you, O Lord, we depend from our birth; you are our hope and trust from the days of our youth, and you will always be our rock and refuge. Therefore we praise you, joining the song of the universal church and the heavenly choir:

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might: Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

Blessed is Jesus Christ, our Savior: Jesus is the fulfillment of your promise— hope of prophets, balm of healing, voice of all grace and truth. Remembering your goodness and grace, we offer ourselves to you with gratitude as we share this joyful feast. Great is the mystery of the faith: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ shall come again.

Pour out your Holy Spirit upon us and upon this bread and cup; make us one in the body and blood of Jesus Christ our Lord. Teach us to strive for the greater gifts while we wait to see you face to face—abiding in faith, hope, and love. Through the Lord Jesus Christ, in the unity of the Spirit, we praise you, God of glory, now and forever. Amen.
