Opening Prayer & Gathering

#249 O Lord, Make Haste to Hear My Cry, vs. 1 (Ps 141)

O Lord, make haste to hear my cry.

To You I call, on You rely.

Incline to me a gracious ear,

And when I call, in mercy hear.

Call to Worship (Psalm 27:1)

The Lord is my light and my salvation;

Whom shall I fear?

The Lord is the stronghold of my life;

Of whom shall I be afraid?

Come, seek God in this time of worship.

Opening Hymn #376 Love Divine, All Loves Excelling

(Please remain standing through the Response to God’s Grace)

Call to Confession

When we cry to God in prayer and confession, God hears. Let us approach God’s throne of grace with confidence and faith.

Prayer of Confession

Eternal God, as uncertainties loom and fear grows, we can begin to believe that you are hiding from us, unresponsive to us, that you have forgotten us. Forgive our doubt. Forgive our lack of spiritual investment in our relationship with you. Forgive us when we make our faith all about what you might do for us rather than how we might serve you and the world. Help us to reclaim our calling, fully trusting in Jesus’ promise, that he will never leave us or forsake us. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon

God does not forsake us in times of trial. Our God is a gracious God, abounding in steadfast love. Know that in Jesus Christ, you are forgiven and be at peace. Amen.

Response to God's Grace

#223 O My Soul, Bless Your Redeemer, vs. 2 (Ps 103)

God forgives all your transgressions,

All diseases gently heals;

God redeems you from destruction,

And with you so kindly deals.

Sermon for Faith Builders Children are invited to go to Children’s Worship with our Children’s Worship Leader, Ms. Marisa. Children will return to their parents during the final hymn.

Anthem   Come, Ye Sinners, Poor and Needy

Joseph Hart/Southern Harmony/Ronald Turner

Come, ye sinners, poor and needy,

weak and wounded, sick and sore,

Jesus ready stands to save you,

full of pity, love, and power.

Come, ye thirsty, come and welcome,

God's gree bounty glorified;

True belief and true repentance,

Every grace that brings you nigh.

I will arise and go to Jesus,

He will embrace me in His arms;

In the arms of my dear Savior,

Oh, there are

Oh, there are ten thousand charms.

Sermon Staying on the Way

Affirmation of Faith Apostles’ Creed (Traditional) - Page 14 in Blue Hymnal

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth,

And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Closing Hymn #379 My Hope is Built on Nothing Less
