Opening Prayer & Gathering #152 What Star Is This, with Beams So Bright, vs. 4
O Jesus, while the star of grace impels us on to seek your face,
let not our slothful hearts refuse the guidance of your light to use.
Call to Worship (from Psalm 148)
The voice of the Lord is powerful and full of majesty.
May the Lord bless us with God’s Peace!
The voice of the Lord proclaimed Jesus as God’s beloved.
In our own baptisms, we, too, are claimed as God’s beloved.
Opening Hymn #482 Baptized in Water
(Please remain standing through the Sung Response)
Call to Confession
God has made a covenant with us and with our ancestors: to be a light to the nations, to bring freedom to captives, and to declare new and glorious things! In faith, let us confess our sin.
Prayer of Confession
Gracious God, you claim us and call us; you support us and uphold us; you save us and free us from our sin. Yet we slip into old habits, worshiping idols that have claimed our hearts, disregarding our impact on the earth and our neighbors. Forgive us. Meet us at the water again, that we might know we belong to you.
Assurance of Forgiveness and Exchange of Peace
Hear the good news! The saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance – that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, that we might be dead to sin, and alive to all that is good. I declare to you in the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven.
May the peace of Christ be with you; And also with you.
Please exchange the peace of Christ with your neighbors.

Questions for Elders entering a new term of service
Questions to the Congregation Session Clerk Donna Jordon
- Do we, the members of the church, accept Zach Logan, Usi Mix, Malissa Horton, and Debbie Hunter as ruling elders, chosen by God through the voice of this congregation to lead us in the way of Jesus Christ?
- Do we agree to pray for them, to encourage them, to respect their decisions, and to follow as they guide us, serving Jesus Christ, who alone is Head of the Church?

Affirmation of Faith - The Apostles’ Creed (Traditional)
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
