Welcome and Announcements

Opening Prayer

God our light and our rescue,

our fortress in times of trouble,

when human powers seek to crush us,

protect us in the hidden places of your heart.

Ease our fears and let us rest in you.

When we are safe, but other lives are threatened,

fortify our resolve to be your protection

for all our loved ones and all your good creation.

When the work is done,

we ask only to live in your house

and enjoy your beauty forever. Amen.

Call to Worship (Psalm 27:1)

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?

The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

We gather in the presence of God. Let us open our hearts and minds in worship.

Opening Hymn #299 You Servants of God, Your Master Proclaim

Call to Confession

Let us pause here to confess the sins that have kept us from recognizing and enjoying God’s presence.

Prayer of Confession

Gracious God, when despair and suffering overwhelm us, we cry out for you and feel abandoned. We doubt your presence and your promises. We are tempted to believe you have turned away from us in anger. We ask why you have forsaken us. In these moments, strengthen us in faith and fill our hearts with courage. We believe, God. Help our unbelief. Amen.

Assurance of Forgiveness and Exchange of Peace (Psalm 103:17)

“The steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting.” Know that you are forgiven and be at peace. Amen.

May the peace of Christ be with you; And also with you.

Please exchange the peace of Christ with your neighbors.

Affirmation of Faith - The Apostles’ Creed (Traditional)

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
