Welcome and Announcements

Opening Prayer & Gathering #152 What Star Is This, with Beams So Bright, vs. 4

O Jesus, while the star of grace impels us on to seek your face,

let not our slothful hearts refuse the guidance of your light to use.

Call to Worship (based on Psalm 15)

Lord, we come into your presence with eagerness.

May we hear your call and speak your truth.

Lord, we come to abide with you in love.

Gather us in honest and faithful community.

Lord, prepare us to be people of hope and grace.

Kindle in us the courage to live as brave and faithful disciples.

Let us worship our God together in this holy space. Alleluia. Amen.

Opening Hymn #667 When Morning Gilds the Skies

(please remain standing through the sung response)

Call to Confession

God has told us what is good, what is required: Do justice. Love kindness. Walk humbly with God. These commands are so simple, yet we know we have not always followed them. With that knowledge, we confess.

Prayer of Confession (based on Micah 6:1-8)

Merciful God, we fail to do what is right in your eyes. Instead, we pursue evil and do not speak the truth, as we pursue what is right in our own eyes. Even when we try our best to be faithful, still we turn away from you. Forgive us. Accept us. Redeem us, that we may seek to live according to your Wisdom, pursuing your Peace.

Assurance of Forgiveness and Exchange of Peace

The mercy of the Lord is deeper than the depths of the sea and wider than the whole of the earth. Friends, hear and believe the good news of the gospel: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven, healed and made whole. Alleluia. Amen.

May the peace of Christ be with you; And also with you.

Please exchange the peace of Christ with your neighbors.

Prayer of Thanksgiving

The Lord be with you. And also with you.

Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise.

Blessed are you, O Lord our God: You delivered us from captivity and made us your people. You ask us not for burnt offerings, or rivers of precious oil, but to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with you, our God. Therefore we praise you, joining the song of the universal church and the heavenly choir: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might; heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

Blessed is Jesus Christ, our Savior: He taught us what it means to be truly blessed— to be merciful and meek, peaceful and pure in heart— to such as these the kingdom of heaven belongs. Remembering your goodness and grace, we offer ourselves to you with gratitude as we share this joyful feast. Great is the mystery of faith:

Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again!

Pour out your Holy Spirit upon us and upon this bread and cup; make us one in the body and blood of Jesus Christ our Lord. Teach us the wisdom of the cross, the message of Christ crucified. Let the weak be lifted up, and the mighty be made humble, so that we may boast in nothing other than the grace of our Lord. Through the Lord Jesus Christ, in the unity of the Spirit, we bless you, God of glory, now and forever. Amen.
