Opening Prayer & Gathering #738 O Master, Let Me Walk with Thee, vs. 1

O Master, let me walk with thee in lowly paths of service free; tell me thy secret; help me bear the strain of toil, the fret of care.

Call to Worship (based on Acts 2:1-4)

They were all together in one place.

They heard the rush of a violent wind.

It filled the entire house.

Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared and rested on each of them.

They were filled with the Holy Spirit!

Opening Hymn #289 On Pentecost They Gathered

(Please remain standing through the sung response)

Call to Confession

God’s Spirit is alive and at work among us, gathering us for worship, calling us to return to God through prayer, praise and confession. Let us pray together.

Prayer of Confession

Spirit of the Living God, we hesitate and doubt. You call us to act boldly, but fear keeps us quiet and circling. We confess our lack of courage, splintered by uncertainty and second-guessing. Forgive us for all the times we shrink from your call. Embolden us to dream beyond what we know and to have your vision and your love for the world. Let your Spirit fill us, prodding us beyond inertia. Grant that we might be Christ’s body, not in fits and starts but with steady conviction. Guided by your Holy Spirit, help us be active participants in ushering in your peaceable kingdom. Amen.

Assurance of Forgiveness and Exchange of Peace (Acts 2:21)

Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven and freed. Amen.

May the peace of Christ be with you; And also with you.

Please exchange the peace of Christ with your neighbors.

Sung Response #447 We Are Forgiven

We are forgiven. We are forgiven. Thanks be to God. Thanks be to God. (Repeat)

Sermon for Faith Builders

Children are invited to go to Children’s Church with our Children’s Ministry Coordinator, Ms. Marisa. They will return during the final hymn.

Affirmation of Faith The Apostles’ Creed (Traditional)

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
