Welcome and Announcements

Opening Prayer & Gathering #738 O Master, Let Me Walk with Thee, vs. 1

O Master, let me walk with thee in lowly paths of service free; tell me thy secret;

help me bear the strain of toil, the fret of care.

Call to Worship (from Psalm 86:7-10, NIV) Kellan Mix (rising 6th grader)

Lord, you are forgiving and good.

You are full of love for all who call out to you.

Lord, hear my prayer.

Listen to my cry for mercy.

When I’m in trouble, I will call out to you.

And you will answer me.

Lord, there’s no one like you among the gods.

No one can do what you do.

Lord, all the nations you have made will come and worship you.

They will bring glory to you.

You are great. You do wonderful things.

You alone are God.

Opening Hymn #239 Good Christians All, Rejoice and Sing!

(Please remain standing through the sung response)

Call to Confession

Before we hear the Word read and proclaimed, let us prepare our hearts through the confession of our individual and collective sins.

Prayer of Confession

God of the Great Commission: You send us, but we hedge and hesitate. Forgive our fear and our excuses. We are witnesses of your grace and glory but, in our timidity, we are hesitant to voice our praise in the hearing of others. We imprison ourselves with doubt and shame, and fail to shine your light for all to see. Forgive our fears. Free our testimony. Help us be your faithful disciples. Amen.

Assurance of Forgiveness and Exchange of Peace

Through Christ’s death and resurrection, we are a new creation,

In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven and freed. Amen.

May the peace of Christ be with you, And also with you.

Please exchange the peace of Christ with your neighbors

Sung Response #447 We Are Forgiven

We are forgiven. We are forgiven. Thanks be to God. Thanks be to God. (Repeat)

Sermon for Faith Builders

Children are invited to go to Children’s Worship with our Children’s Ministry Coordinator, Ms. Marisa. They will return during the final hymn.

Sermon The Heart of the Matter: Alive to God Romans 6:1-11

Affirmation of Faith The Apostles’ Creed (Traditional)

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell;

the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
