Welcome and Announcements

Opening Prayer & Gathering #738 O Master, Let Me Walk with Thee, vs. 1

O Master, let me walk with thee in lowly paths of service free;

tell me thy secret; help me bear the strain of toil, the fret of care.

Call to Worship (based in Psalm 89) AJ Hall (rising 3rd grader)

Lord, the heavens praise you for your wonderful deeds.

When your holy angels gather together, they praise you for how faithful you are.

Who in the skies above can compare with the Lord?

Who among the angels is like the Lord?

God is highly respected among his holy angels.

He’s more wonderful than all those who are around him.

Lord God who rules over all, who is like you?

Lord, you are mighty. You are faithful in everything you do.

Opening Hymn #409 God Is Here!

(Please remain standing through the sung response)

Call to Confession

We have been called to love our God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength and to love our neighbor as ourselves, but our lives are constricted and self-consumed. We have failed to love God, our neighbor and ourselves as we should. Let us make our good confession before God and others.

Prayer of Confession

God of the risen Christ, you broke the power of sin and evil. And yet we still live in the catacombs of forgetfulness, anxiety, and fear. We have failed to love you as we should. We have neglected to love our neighbor. Indeed, we have even failed to love ourselves. Release us from the tomb of the things that terrify us, so that we can see your image in one another and in your good creation. Indeed, free us from the graves of self-hatred, so that we can see ourselves as your beloved children. Amen.

Assurance of Forgiveness and Exchange of Peace

The mercy of the Lord is sure. In Christ, we are forgiven and set free from the chains that bind us so that we can be your people. Thanks be to God!

May the peace of Christ be with you, And also with you.

Please exchange the peace of Christ with your neighbors

Sung Response #447 We Are Forgiven

We are forgiven. We are forgiven. Thanks be to God. Thanks be to God. (Repeat)

Sermon for Faith Builders

Children are invited to go to Children’s Worship with our Children’s Ministry Coordinator, Ms. Marisa. They will return during the final hymn.

Affirmation of Faith The Apostles’ Creed (Traditional)

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Closing Hymn #785 May the God of Hope Go with Us
