June 2022
Pastor's Pen
We had a wonderful time last Sunday as we
celebrated another God & Country Day at FSBC.
We had a great crowd of 293 present for the
morning services. The church picnic was a great
success. It was because of those who were
willing to get involved in preparing for it and
serving during it. I appreciate Tim & Francine
and Tiffany Terry for all the work they did in
making preparations.
I want to thank the young adult classes that
set up, served and cleaned up afterwards. I also
want to thank those who were outside in the
heat grilling the burgers & hotdogs. Poor Larry
Kasinger had to work with 3 preachers: Cliff
Hawkins, Shawn Taylor and Gabe Lane. Iʼm sure
he will receive a special reward in heaven for
enduring that.
Several told me that we need to make
this pre-Memorial Day Picnic an annual
event. I agree.
I want to let everyone know about a new
series of lessons that I will be teaching on
Wednesday nights, beginning this week. This will
be a series on the Doctrine of the Holy Spirit. Iʼve
got about 9 lessons prepared that I believe will
be a great help in under-standing the work of the
Spirit. I hope you will join us.
From The Youth Pastor
June is the month in which we celebrate Fatherʼs
Day. Our societyʼs view of Dads really isnʼt a good
one. We are seen as bumbling idiots and our
intelligence has been relegated to corny jokes or
“out of touch” remarks. How did we get here? Some
might say it started back in the 30ʼs with Dagwood
Bumstead and his depiction in the comics. (Blondie)
Remember this guy? Always taking naps, making
huge sandwiches, lying to his boss, breaking things,
incompetent to do even the most menial task, totally
out of touch with his children… Is this where it
started? This may be where the media began to tear
down Dads, but Satan has been attacking the family
from the very beginning. As Fathers we need to
return to the roles and responsibilities given to us in
the word of God.
Our children need to know that we are not perfect.
We are sinners too, in fact we are probably the
biggest sinner in our house. We have to be truthful
with them, we canʼt act as if we never make mistakes
or never sin. We must lead them to repentance. The
world is in desperate need of men who will lead with
Godly wisdom. Leadership is not domination or
control. A leader is one who goes first. He sets the
pace for the family by practicing what he preaches.
He is on the lookout for dangers and takes initiative
to protect his family from them. He meets first with
God so that he can bring the plan to his family. He
leads them to a healthy, Bible-teaching church. He
leads them in personal devotions. He leads them
away from worldliness. He leads his wife as her
confidant and champion. He leads his children to
come to know Christ. He leads at church by serving
according to his gifts. He leads other men to follow
his example as he follows Christ. He is a man that his
children can be proud of.
Make the commitment today to be a Godly father.
Make a commitment to lead your family. Get on your
face before God and repent of your sin. Be an
example for your children and for other men to
follow. I invite you, I challenge you to follow Christ
with everything you have and make that decision
today. Bro. Tim
