Pastor's Pen
We are now in the summer months and there
are a lot of things that can hinder us from being
in the Lordʼs House on Sundays. Letʼs remember
to keep the Lordʼs Day holy, even in the
summertime.
******************
On Sunday, July 3rd, I celebrated 40 years in
the ministry. On July 4, 1982, I was ordained into
the gospel ministry by Faith MBC, in Cabot and
became pastor of Greenwood MBC, in Butlerville,
Arkansas. Then in October of 1987 I became
pastor of Florence Street MBC. So I have only
pastored two churches, but I could not have
asked for two finer churches to pastor. I want to
thank all those who have made pastoring such a
joy, fulfilling Hebrews 13:17. [Look it up]

Most of you have heard that I have been
diagnosed with cancer (Multiple Myeloma) and
have been taking chemotherapy once a week,
which I will have to do for several weeks. So far,
I have been able to tolerate the drugs and carry
on with my duties. This cancer is very treatable
and has a high success rate. I do appreciate all
the prayers that have been offered on behalf of
Betty and me. I leave it in the hands of my Lord.
From The Youth Pastor
July is camp month, and I am both excited
and terrified. I have the honor and privilege of
being the camp speaker this year for Oklahoma
Teen Camp at Cedar Hills. The theme this year is
Worth(less).
I am tired of losing our children to a world
that doesnʼt value life at any stage. Too many
of our young men and women are believing the
lies society is telling them. They feel worthless,
hopeless, and without purpose. My lifeʼs work is
to proclaim the gospel of Christ and explain the
truth of his word. Hopefully, during this week of
camp, they will be able to better understand
what Godʼs word says about our worth. It isnʼt
based on anything external. It has nothing to
do with: clothes, money, skin color, job, social
status, ability, sexuality, ancestry, or happiness.
Our worth is based on Christ and what he did on
the cross.
Romans 5:8-11 says: “But God commendeth his
love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners,
Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified
by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through
him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled
to God by the death of his Son, much more, being
reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only
so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
by whom we have now received the atonement.”
Please pray for the youth, that they will be
open to the gospel and pray for me that I will be
able to speak the truth in love. - Bro. Tim
