October 2022
Pastor's Pen
I have been in a sermon series in Leviticus
#23, about the 7 Feasts of Jehovah given to Israel
to observe each year. We have 2 more to note:
the Day of Atonement and the Feast of Tabernacles.
It is believed that the 3 fall festivals will be
fulfilled in the 2nd Coming of Christ. Join us for
this series and learn of Godʼs blueprint for manʼs
redemption through Christ Jesus.
During the rest of October, I will bring a
3-sermon series on evidence that the Bible is the
inspired Word of God. Weʼll look at the Scientific,
Historic and Prophetic accuracy of the Bible.
Invite your skeptical friends.

Through the month of August we received Faith
Promise Mission pledge cards for the coming church
year. We received 77 cards, totaling $14,535 per
month. That is $3,526 per month more than last
yearʼs pledges. That allows us to support 81 mission
fields for the coming year. AMEN!

We were blessed last Sunday night by a good
MBSF group of 18 students from OSU. Collier
Robertson, their director gave a report on their
ministry on the campus and then shared a
message from Godʼs Word. Afterward we had
the “Festival of the Unleavened Pizza”.
From The Youth Pastor
October is probably my favorite
month of the year. Fall has just begun,
and hopefully the temperatures will
start to get cooler. Iʼm reminded of
my childhood birthday parties and all
of the homemade birthday cakes my
mom would make for my family and
friends. I am also reminded of a
recurring scene in my young life. It
was the church. A lot of my childhood
memories are related to church.
Some of you might have these
same memories and gathering
together brings them back. You feel
nostalgic and comforted by singing
hymns, sitting in a pew, and passing
an offering plate. It just feels like
church. All of this is wonderful, but it
shouldnʼt be the goal. If it is, most of
us have been sitting on the goal line
for 20 or 30 years.
In Matthew 28:19-20 Jesus gives
the Great Commission. In it, he commands
us to “go and make disciples...”
Are we doing that? Iʼm not
sure that we are. For too long, our
goal has been to have someone
profess faith in Christ, be baptized,
and be in church every time the doors
are opened. This is only half way to
the goal. We then have to instruct
them and show them how to be a
disciple that makes disciples. I am
convicted and convinced that this
needs to happen. If we will focus on
making disciples, then Christ will build
His church. - Bro. Tim
