December 2022
Pastor's Pen
In the month of December, we will be looking
at the reason for the season – the birth of Jesus
Christ. I will preach a couple of messages on that
theme, and the FSBC choir will present its Christmas
musical on the morning of December 18th.
Christmas day falls on a Sunday this year. Yes,
we will have our regular services that day. I cannot
believe that some churches will celebrate the Lordʼs
birthday by canceling services. We will cancel Sunday
School that day to allow our people to have more
time that morning for family activities. Worship
services will begin at the usual time: 10:45AM.
If you plan to have house guests on Christmas,
ask them to come prepared to go to church with you
that morning. We will sing Christmas carols and the
message will have a Christmas theme.
******************
You may have noticed that our attendance took
quite a dive in November. Part of this was due to a
lot of sickness among our members. It seems the flu
bug has returned. Letʼs pray that all of our sick folk
will get well and that no one else gets sick.
Also, the holidays are not kind to church
attendance. I pray that we can rebound this month
and see the auditorium full each Sunday. If you
have been absent, we have missed you and hope to
see you back. If you have been present, contact your
absent friends and encourage them to be in their
place this Sunday. Letʼs make this Sunday a Rally
Day. May God bless each one.
From The Youth Pastor
Itʼs December already? It seems
like I ask that same question every
year. The older I get, the faster the
years seem to fly by. December is
the month we celebrate Christmas,
the birth of Christ.
We donʼt know with 100%
certainty exactly what day Christ
was born, but we know why He was
born. Why canʼt we take a day to
celebrate that?
We are living in a world of inverted
reality and seems like every other
day a word is being redefined.
Man, woman, boy , girl, marriage.
They all have been changed to
endorse a godless worldview. Letʼs
not let this happen to Christmas.
Christmas affords us a wonderful
opportunity to speak with people
about the birth of our savior. That
tiny little baby would grow up to
give His life for our sin. That sweet
innocent child would remain innocent
His whole life, in order to be the
perfect sinless lamb that would die in
our place.
I know there is a lot about the
worldʼs celebration of Christmas that
we donʼt like, but donʼt waste the
opportunity it gives us to tell others
about His birth and how important
that it was. It was so pivotal that
time started over, and without it we
would be without hope. “Thatʼs
what Christmas is all about Charlie
Brown...” - Bro. Tim
