JANUARY 2023
Pastor's Pen
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
We begin a new year this Sunday and the
best place to begin is in the House of the Lord.
How should we enter into this coming
year? First, some need to wake up and
realize that time is passing. We need to
look up and know that Jesus is coming
soon. We need to sober up, put on the armor
of God each day for Satan is working harder
than ever; he knows his time is short. And
letʼs pray up, because there are mountains
that need moving. That would be an excellent
plan to follow throughout the coming year.
*******************************************
This coming Sunday morning, I plan to
preach a message entitled, “How To Face
The New Year”. Then in the evening
service, Cliff Hawkins will bring the message
and we will observe the Lordʼs Supper together
as a church family.
We also will give out 2023 calendars to
all present in the evening service, as well as
a printed calendar of coming events for the
entire year.
I also want to encourage one and all to
join us in our Adult Bible Class on Wednesday
nights at 7:00PM for a character study of
Joseph in the book of Genesis. He is seen as
a type of Christ, and we will note the similarities
in their lives as we go along. This new
lesson series will begin this week.
From The Youth Pastor
As this year draws to a close and
we begin a new year, I challenge
you to set some time aside and take
a few moments to reflect on where
you are in your life.
I think itʼs good to look back on
what you did in 2022 before planning
for 2023. Remind yourself of all
the things God taught you this year.
Look at where He has brought you
from. Thank Him for everything he
has done.
I am thankful for a church family
that cares for itʼs pastors and staff
the way you do. I am overwhelmed
by the gifts my family has been
given through this church. I am
thankful for the support that many of
you have shown my family this past
year and I look forward to growing
with you this new year.
As we think about new beginnings
and starting a new year. Lets not go
backward and make the same
mistakes that we made last year. Lets
move forward and “press toward
the mark for the prize of the high
calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
(Phil.3:14) Lets “lay aside every
weight, and the sin that easily besets
us, and...run with patience the race
that is set before us,” (Heb. 12:1)
As we look forward and make
plans for 2023 and resolutions to be
healthier, kinder and more organized.
Lets not forget our purpose
and our ministry. Lets also remember
that our race isnʼt over until God
calls us home. - Bro. Tim
